Near the end of 1939 this Scandinavian country sent officers to the U.S to find a replacement for it,s Naval Bi-Plane patrol aircraft. The resulting visit in Feb 1940 ended with a contract for this aircraft of a brand new design from this U.S company. It was a sleek, single engine, low wing floatplane. This country was the only customer for this aircraft. The aircraft was mainly used for convoy escort over open water but not really suited for this service being a single engine aircraft. 2 survived the War but were scrapped. A wreck was later located, rescued, and restored. It is the only surviving example of this type. Name this aircraft. Answer by PM only. Do not answer " Was It ". Submit the exact designation since this country was the only user of this aircraft and only one example exists. Answer will be posted Fri 11 / 03 at 1100 hrs.
