Trieste bathyscaph

Watchin the tube and came across a show on the Trieste bathyscaph. Set me to thinking, wonder if anyone makes a plastic kit of this history making vessel?

The only remotely similar kit I’ve ever heard of is this one: www.squadron.com/…/he54001.htm . And the similarity is mighty remote.

Maybe there’s a resin one out there.

I think that there was a resin set by a company called Viking several years back. They also made some Brown Water Navy kits as well.

was hoping for a monogram kit or the like. Just seems to me somebody should be making that thing…

Since it is not a warship don’t hold your breath. The market for non-naval subjects just doesn’t seem to be there, and few mfgs will take a flyer on a civil or government non-naval subject. I certainly would like to see more non-navy ships but those of us who feel that way are a small minority. Most of my shipbuilding friends believe non-naval subjects are just boring, and the mfgs listen to the majority.

Don,

Incase ya didnt know, Im a B-52 guy at heart. Saw a show on the tube the other night about it and thought a kit of the Trieste would be a nice change. But apperantly thats not gonna happen… Guess I wil go back and work on my NB-52A…

Hi DON :

Sadly , what you have just stated is so true .And yet , there are so many non -military ships that are fascinating to say the least .Oh , well that’s why many of us scratchbuild right ? tanker - Builder

Hey tanker, while we are on the subject I wish we have more of, heavy equipment, you know draglines, cranes, dozers etc

I have this resin kit in a unopened box

Necro Thread!

By Pit Road? They made a bunch of deep sea exploration vehicles. I was able to get the Alvin and a Jim Suit.

I also have the Alvin, but, being from Falmouth and WHOI is in Woods Hole and is part of the Town of Falmouth, that’s not available. I have been inside of Alvin, so another reason it’s not up for sale.

Are you interested in the Trieste

By chance are you doing that Revell kit with the X-15?
