Wow, nice one! Your mottle camo is excellent, and the finish is outstanding. I am currently building one of these myself! Did you have any problems getting the tailplane halves to fit together well? I have tried sanding them a little to get them to fit together without gaps on the trailing edge, but no luck.
OK… The gauntlet has been removed… we (aircraft modelers) have been slapped in the face… and the gauntlet is thrown to the ground at out feet in a brazen attempt at provocation… Who among you will take up this challenge and show these… these…treadheads… these builders of targets… that we… the… ahhh… WINGNUTS… can build a tank as well as THEY can build an aircraft[:(!].
OK… SO WHO AMONG YOU???.. I’m just too busy now and can’t do it… I have to get a haircut, and then mow the lawn, and then I have to…hmmmm… DO THE DISHES yeah that’s it… do the dishes. So I just can’t right now.[]
And BTW, did I forget to mention that is an excellent job on the 335.[tup]
and just in case…[;)] [swg] Did Imention I have a tank in my stash that I looking forward to starting[:-^]
I just built one of those! So now I can retire it to the trash bin, go sit in the corner and whimper[BH] Truly beautiful job! Show when completed please!
K-dawg, I think I’m going to be sick. If that’s your first crack at a plane, you must build blue-ribbon tanks! The thing I like most about this thing is the exhaust! Did you use any refrences, or did you just “guestimate”? Either way, it looks like someone’s run her HARD! I hope you keep building planes, we’d love to keep you around over here![bow]
Frank, I didn’t experience any fit problems on the tail at all that I recall… Only the bomb bay doors…
Marc, Trust me there are PLENTY of errors lots of injector pin marks and such… It’s a 2 foot model [:D] I didn’t spend as much time as I should have building it as my favorite part is painting… So I’ll try to do better next time…
Rick, Thanks Brother…
RadMax, To be honest I used Marcus Nichols fantastic FW190 article as a reference for weathering and the colors for the engine exhaust… I wanted a used and abused look to the airframe and I believe it works…
I closed mine and ended up having to fill and sand A LOT! Basically it was just get it as best as possible then fill with superglue. I didn’t bother rescribing my doors in because I was getting burned out with sanding and sanding and sanding… [|(]
There is no positive locator for them in the closed position… they tend to sit crooked and its hard to get it flush.
Same here! I ended up having to do a little work with a file, put a VERY slight bend in the center along the door line, and wedged it in and glued it. The fit is OK, but I figure they were not PERFECTLY smooth when closed on an aircraft like this one. Well, it makes me feel better to say it anyway…[sigh]
