I am looking for a good proceedure of using dry ransfers on clear decal paper[%-)] I don’t want to go directly on the model with dry transfers as there a multiple letters and it seems easier lettering the decal paper first and then use it as a regular decal[8D]

Never tried it, but it should work. After applying the dry transfers to the decal paper you will have to trim it as close as possible to the graphics and then apply it like any decal. I’d experiment on a scrap piece first, rather than getting a surprize on the actual model.

I’ve done it. It can be frustrating if you’re not using “fresh” dry transfers, and even then the transfered image is fragile. The dry transfers reportedly have a shelf life on the order of months or a year. I also recommend that you clear coat the final image with Future or Microscale liquid decal film and let it dry overnight before you trim around it and put it in water.

a shelf life? does this mean if i plan on buying a model i should check first the date? because i bought a model 2 wks ago which came with a dry transfer set. The model was release in 2000. And when i tried applying the decals it was stuck to the wax paper.

are there any remedies for these kind of problem?

I have heard that if you warm the dry transfers with a hair drier blower before application, it will help. I’ve not tried it, but there was a post to that effect a while back.
