Tragedy & Triumph!

Here is the story:

I was doing some more weathering to my Tiger yesterday and decided to test the functions again (I do this from time to time, just to make sure) I went to fire the main gun and… ZZZZZ No Flash!

So, I open up the hull, to see if maybe a connection had come loose, all was fine. Hmmm, perplexed, I pull the flash unit connector off the plug and saw it! A piece of wire (and I mean 1 strand) had touch 2 of the connector pins on my DMD control unit and shorted something out [:0]

I almost went BONKERS! I kept calm, ready to really freak out, I called Tamiya USA’s tech line. I explained the situation and the tech guy said he would send me another neon flash unit ( Reg $35.00) for free. All I would have to do is pay for shipping. Well, I felt a tad better, but was still afraid. What if it was the DMD unit? I asked how much that would be, he said $240.00 [B)]

I was a basket case until this morning, UPS delivered the replacement. I had paid for Next Day Air because it was going to eat me alive to wait and ponder.

Well, I pulled out the old one, installed the new one and then tested…

TRIUMPH! It worked again. I then went to my air compressor and blew out the entire inner hull, just to make sure no other wire bits remained. I have no idea where it came from.

I must now sing the praises of Tamiya once again. Not only do they provide us excellent kits, the really do look after their customers! [:D]

[:D][:D][:D]Great! And thanks, Tamiya!! (We’d hate to have Eric go bonkers!)[:D][:D][:D]

thank goodness, the story had a happy ending !
lucky eric, and three cheers 4 Tamiya !

Thank God for Tamiya USA! I’d hated to have seen the headlines…

** Ohio man commits suicide - shoots self in head with Tiger Tank **

or

** Ohio man accidentally shoots self with Tiger Tank…witnesses say “he thought it wasn’t loaded and he moved a loose wire…” ** [;)]

Glad to hear it worked after Eric. I know you were sweating that one!! I’d have hated to hear you had to buy a new DMD unit!! Now get that thing finished and quit playing around. [;)] [:-^]

Eric

Hey! That happened to me once too. Main gun and turret power on… Announced ‘On the Way!’ pressed the Cadillacs and nothing. Had to use the manual blaster to send it.[:(!]

I’m glad support got your tank up and running![:D]

Ron.[;)]

You mean Tamiya doesn’t include Firing Circuit testers with their kits? [#oops]

I think make one to scale with a little LED. slide it in the breech and bango! LOL.[:D]

Ron.

I glad you got it fixed Eric.

Well, all’s well and ends well.

Thank God.

Scared me there for a minute Eric. Glad to see everything is okay. Now about that Panther and surprise you were going to do…[;)]

Bill and Eric(Erush)-ROTFLMAO. Thanks, I needed that this week.

Well, lets have a look at the real bright side…$240 less freight for the flash unit = more money for new kits. LOL.

Glad to see it wasn’t terminal Eric (pun intended)

Good to hear Eric … hate to think of something as simple as a loose wire causing so much grief.

And kudos to Tamiya for their support.

Good to hear it’s up and running!
Good to hear Tamiya USA is on the ball, too!
