Traffic Violation

Received a traffic ticket this morning. First one in quite a while. Failing to stop at a stop sign. $230.00! :open_mouth:
Seems a bit steep to me, but then, like I said…it’s been a while. Inflation touches everything.
Note to Self: Stop at stop signs. Complete stop. Oh, and don’t speed (which I usually don’t). That probably cost a lot too.

Cheers,
Mark

Sorry, thats pretty steep. It’s funny,I watch On Patrol Live,it’s a great show but one complaint is that no one seems to get tickets its only warnings,if I ever get pulled over,I’ll have to mention that.

Sorry to hear that happened MisterMeester. At least no one got hurt or anything got damaged.

It’s tough to take. (Read: rolling stop, not barreling through). But I get it.

I drive a 33,000 lb service truck (cdl) and if cdl holders get tickets now days it’s the max fine and you have to attend a day in traffic school. Does not matter if it’s my service truck or my personal vehicle. It’s the west coast and everything is crazy over here though.

How times have changed. For the better, I suppose. Seven years ago today, a semi driver ran a stop sign at a highway about 2 hours from where I live. A bus carrying a hockey team T-boned him. 16 killed and 13 injured. I forgot about that until just now. Even though I’m 100% positive my rolling stop was not endangering anyone, I understand the hefty fine more now. I will pay more attention to not continuing that bad habit. Lots of people do it here (rolling stop). More than ever before.

Here’s to safe driving,
Mark

Not on topic per say but “Round Abouts” have become very popular and are frequently places where accidents occur because people don’t slow down and proceed through them with caution.

$230 is pretty steep. Ouch! I’ve got very bad eyesight. So I’m glad I don’t own a car and can’t drive. If I did, I’d be racking up tickets like there’s no tomorrow.

I’m a fan of roundabouts. Unfortunately the intersection I did my rolling stop at was a T intersection. Thus no round about. I was turning right, onto the thru road. The police cruiser was the car I was pulling out in front of. Albeit from a good 100 yards away, I’d say. Back in the day you could tell a cop car from miles away. Not so anymore. Particularly with the small LED lights. They kinda look like just a roof rack. Note to self: Be more observant and aware.

Cheers,

Roundabouts around here are like a 4 way stop intersection, no one can figure it out and as soon as they come to it all logic is lost and panic ensues. Having a kid and getting my cdl taught me more about staying calm and patience than anything.

I read that there’s going to be a new type of round about being built in the U.S.
This will be fun.

That is hilarious WhatIfRebel! If it was painted orange, it would remind me of an old Hot Wheels track I had when I was a kid.

I never had those when I was a kid. :frowning: I wanted to, but never got them.

That’s what a Class C citation runs in Texas–up from US$217.43 a few years ago.

Neither did I, but my next door neighbor did. Fun times.

Mark
