I’m building a T-34/85 1/16 Trumpeter tank. Should I paint the track pieces separately or assemble then paint?

Either way will work. It is a personal preferance.

I paint them flat black while still on the sprue. I assemble them using super glue, then finish painting and weathering them. I then apply them to the tank and complete weathering to blend it all in.

I generally put them together, in sections, to fit to the vehicle. I’ll take them off, paint and a little bit of weathering off vehicle, then attach and finish weathering on vehicle.

The scale your on at the moment, try this;

  1. Assemble the track
  2. Prime black
  3. Spray rusty brown ( thats to your taste)
  4. On the inside work out the width of road wheels and mask.
  5. Spray black to represent rubber coming off track.
  6. On out side dry drush silver to high light road contact
  7. finish off with weathering powder of your choice
