Does anyone have the size, length an diameter, of a Tiger II/Jagdtiger track pin in their references… or their head[:O]
UH, did you lose one on the way to battle, Marc? lol…
Pray tell–really curious, why do you need to know that?!
Why scale track pins silly rabbit. The tiny Italian tankette by Bronco has spark plugs.
Cheers
Dave
Something tells me that Marc wants to display a pin in a holder without the link on the side of his JT that he’s working on. Either that or he’s going for a super-accurate track changing dio and needs some spare pins and a sledge-hammer! [(-D]
The short answer Marc is that the pin would be slightly longer than the track links themselves. If you take the Magic track links that DML provides, you will be able to calculate the max pin length if you’ve got a really good set of calipers handy by measuring the end-to-end length at the backside of the track link that has the pin molded in place. That should get you close enough, scale-wise, for what you’re looking for. [;)]
I usualy use “straight pins” stollen from my wifes sewing stuf.
I put them into the dremel tool and turn down the heads with a file, cut the pins to length and viola!
Track pin!
Tom
Adler’s Nest actually make these as AM accessories http://www.missionmodels.com/product.php?productid=104402&cat=448&page=2&js=n
Ouch!
$16.99 for 10 = $1.70 each!!!

Thanks for the answers guys. Bill you are pretty close[;)] I figured I could get close for the length but I really curious how close I was with the wire I planned to use. The pin for the Pz IV link I have is just under 3/4 inch. Do oyu think a T-II pin, given how much bigger it os over a Pz IV track link could be an inch in diameter? I’m not going for perfetion, but now I am curious hopw big the darn thing really is
And the AM pins look sweet but at buck 70 per… too sweet
