  2. 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner
  3. 1970 Mustang Boss 429

  1. '68 Pontiac GTO
  2. '70 Plymouth Baracuda
  3. '70 Dodge Charger GT
  4. 70 Mustang 302
  5. 74 Dodge Charger SE ( I owned one with the 440 high performance, Carter Thermoquad 4bbl, High rise manifold with an astonishing 12 MPG).

Oh…top five muscle cars…

Only five??? I am not sure I can put them in any order here…but here are five that top my list…

69 GTO Judge
65 Buick Riviera GTS (style unsurpassed)
70 Chevelle SS
69 Hurst Olds 442
70 Pontiac TransAm

What can I say…I’m a GM kinda guy…

Really though…These are the originals…Hot Rods from the 50’s, not original…40 Merc Lead Sleds…Don’t get me wrong…I love original cars…they just aren’t for me…

Cars…Five just isn’t enough…lol…but Muscle Cars…those five would have to be some of my favorites…

I’ll throw a few in the hat, but my choices are probably based on ‘looks’ than performance:

  • 70 Buick GSX
  • 68 Camaro RS/SS (with hideaway headlights)
  • 70 Chevelle 454
  • 68 GTO
  • 70 Boss 429 Mustang

M.

Here are mine in no particular order:
69 Charger, 69 Camaro, 71 Hemi-Cuda, 69 Daytona, 70 Superbird.

In no particular order…

1971 Mustang Mach 1 Boss 429
1971 Buick GSX Stage 1
1975 Pontiac Trans Am SD455
1969 Chev Camaro ZL-1 C.O.P.O.
1969 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner

I had a 72 Mach 1 with a 351 Cobra Jet and a 4-speed. I got about 9 miles to the gallon…on a good day!!! The crazy thing is, I’d buy another one in a heartbeat.

Ah, the good old days when I actually owned 2 of these cars.
1969 Mustang Mach I w/428 cobra jet- owned
1969 Charger w/426 Hemi
1964 GTO w/389 & tri-power
1966 Chevelle 396, 360hp- owned
1963 Galaxie 500 w/428, the odd ball car but very quick for a full sized car

1970 hemi superbird / 1969 boss 429 mustang / 1969 ss 396 chevelle / 1973 super duty trans am / 1965 pontiac gto 389 tri-power

Hmm-F-85, Cutlass, 442, Hurst/Olds, and… 1970 Hemi 'cuda convertible

1967 shelby GT 500 /70 429 Mustang Boss/ 1969 dodge charger / Pontiac GTO/ 1969 Chevy camaro SS
I would also add a 94 5.0 mustang but only five! Im a mustang guy

I own a 65 Olds 442 conv and its NOT in the top 5, but :
1970 Chevelle LS-6
1970 Buick GSX
1965 Shelby AC Cobra
1969 Hemi Road Runner
1965 Plymouth Fury w/Max wedge 426
this should start a few discussions with motor heads

Got any photos of the 442 you can post?

Are Ferraris muscle cars???

My top five:

Ferrari Mythos
Ferrari F40
Lamborghigni Countach
Ferrari 348
Porshe 911

No, in my humble opinion, they are not. A musclecar must be American iron. Medium size, big v-8. But that’s just my opinion. Anyone else??
Lee

Hey!
I have no arguments with the cars chosen, thus far, but nobody’s mentioned the 1970 Duster 340!!! What a gem!
Granted, it’s the only musclecar I’ve evered owned, but…

they are next:

  1. shelby gt 500 1967 (eleanor)
  2. mustang boss 429 1969
  3. dodge charger 1971
  4. pontiac gto
  5. you forget the 1995 dodge viper gts

J-Hulk, I also owned a brand new '70 340 Duster in “TOR-RED”, it was fast but nothing compared to the cars mentioned here.

Yeah, you’re right, of course…but I loved that car!!
Mine was purple. Can’t remember the cute name for that color…

Ferrarie don’t count, it’s a sports car. Like Lee said, American iron, and lots of horses with a body that has ATTITUDE.
J-Hulk that would be Plum Crazy Purple
Another rare one was the Mustang Mach 1 351CID with magnesium alloy hemi heads, saw an articlr in Car Craft mag. about that one!

personally own 68 charger, 70 challenger, 57 chevy
