To Brush,or not to Brush?

I recently bought a couple of Packs of cheap Paint brushes at my local Brooks Pharmacy,They will be primerly used for Washes,Drybrusing,I felt the bristles on them they felt some what soft,and a little stiff,so my question is can they still be used for what I bought them for?

I would recommand to use them for drybrushing or washes exclusively. Detailing and finition painting done with cheap brushes can be somewhat frustrating.

For scut work as you describe, they should be fine. You might want to wash the stiff ones first—they may have sizing on the bristles.

The soft ones can be cut off short for drybrushing.
