Hi guys!
Did anyone else see that Kitty Hawk is coming out with a new 1/48 scale F-101A Voodoo?

Also, they’ll be coming out with a new F4H-3/4 Banshee in 1/48 as well. I can’t wait until they announce the release dates!
Just thought I’d pass the good news along. These are the first new releases I’ve been excited about in a VERY long time. I’m so glad that a model company is coming out with these often ignored subjects.
Eric
I recall hearing about the Voodoo awhile back. But the Banshee is new to me and most welcome news at that.
The Banshee has been my request for years on the polls here.
Oh the Banshee has been my request for the longest time as well! I’ve been getting so desperate that I’ve been considering getting the old Tester’s/Hawk kit.
I can’t wait for the Banshee to come out. I can only hope that the FH-1 Phantom won’t be far behind. Same with the Cutlass.
Eric
Yes, early USN jets are not well covered in 1/48. Kits exist of most of them, but most are old/basic kits. Although that is slowly being rectified. Within the past decade we have seen new tooled injection plastic F9F Panther, FJ Fury, and even the F3H Demon. Heck we finally now have the A3D Skywarrior in 1/48!!! I have the Testors/Hawk Banshee in my stash, but it needs a TON or work to look decent next to my Monogram Panther. Now how about a F9F Cougar, F11F Tiger, and F3D Skyknight guys?
Oh yes! My Kingdom for a new 1/48 F11 Tiger!! Why can’t we get one? [:'(]
Monogram! Are you listening?!?!
Yes, a late '50s US Carrier Air wing in 1/48. We have some, but need more!
O yes a F11F would be great! I was over joyed when the Demon came out. I scratch built a 1/6 scale R/C jets version of the Demon it a few years back. Luv both of these planes.
John
John, I hope you made it very authentic by making it underpowered.
[:P]
Eric
Demon was what we trained on in hydraulics A school.
Actually it was, with a O.S. 77 in a 13 lb plane it didn’t go very fast, but it did have a nice big wing, lots for runway helped. [:D]

Isn’t there a big difference between a F2H-3 and -4. I think the 4 was a much larger airframe. John
What about a new tool Duece and Six. The old monograms are getting old. really old
I think the only difference was the beaver tail was longer on one mark over the other, and one was optimized for all weather operations, other than that the size pretty much stayed the same.
The big change was from the -2 to the -3. The -3 was 8 feet longer, increased the internal fuel capacity, and had the tail design changed. The -4 featured a better radar and engines over the -3.
Got it. Knew there was a big change somewhere. thanks stik
No, the differences were between the Korean-War-time F2H-2 Banshee and the post-Korea -3 which had a fuselage extension, increased wing area, relocated tailplanes, and radar. The -4 differed from the -3 only in equipment, as I recall. The 39 Royal Canadian Navy ones were -3s.
