Hello all, the energizer bunny reporting here about my latest work…

The story behind this is very simple. A squad of paratroopers on patrol.
Figures are assorted Dragon figures (all paratroopers).
The house and the fence are scratchbuilt.

Now why the color is like that?[:D] Oh well I was actually starting to paint them in color but I had a hard time getting the right color for the uniforms until I ran out of OD. Since I was too lazy to go to the LHS to get some more paint and I was so impatient that I wanted to finish the diorama right away, I toyed with the idea of just using shades of grey mixed from white and black. Now I have seen a diorama done in B&W and it was amazing. So I said, why not try it? I did and well…it came out “not so bad”.[:D]

Well what’s your comments?

Hiya Bunny Dwight,

indeed, its different and very creative, looks more like a WW2 photo.

Maiba na kaunti,
With Special Toys Place no longer in Virra Mall, I have found it harder to look for shops with good stocks and variety. Lil’s at Megamall and at Glorietta are OK but their stocks tend to be limited. The shop at Harrison is still there but its inventory is even smaller. Can we come up with a list of all the shops within Metro Manila for everybody’s reference? We can even mention the pros and cons of each by listing down what kind of models w can expect to find. [:)] Hope you can help. Thanks

Wow, it would be nice to reply to Maxwell’s post. Hopefully it wouldn’t turn out into another wave of LHS bashing once more. Okay, I’ll just post the few shops I frequent or I’m more familiar of. Hope this helps.

  1. Lil’s - Megasmall and Parksquare 1
  2. Special Toy Center / Hobbitoi - Festival Supersmall and Alabang Town Center, SM City North EDSA, Ali Mall Cubao, Sta. Cruz
  3. Accurate Model Works - Southsmall Las Pinas
  4. Hobbies & Comics / Hobbies & Collectibles - Makati Cinema Square, Market Market Mall The Fort Taguig
  5. JMN - Harrison Plaza
  6. Nova Fontana - Shoppesville Greenhills ( halos ubos na nga lang stocks and usually car kits lang )

Dagdagan niyo na lang for those shops I missed listing… ehehehe. [:)]

Hopefully not cbrain.[:D]

Ok i only know of three shops that i frquently visit.
1, Lil’s Futaba - its one of the largest in stock and the prices is more reasonable but i agree their selection is almost limited to Tamiya, Italeri,Academy and Trumpeter kits expanding their selection would be better and bigger discounts.

  1. JMNs Hobby Square- indeed its a small shop and the selection is even smaller but, what i like about this shop is that you can order kits and other products in their mail order catalog and still not that pricey.

  2. Special Toy Center-its the hobby shop with the most selection and with the most branches in metro manila. unfortunately, its two primary drawback is its tendency to overprice kits and base from this tread its noted for some poor costumer relations.

hey! its my opinion guys the choice is yours.[:p]

Beth

Alam mong dala nako sa #3, given they have more selections than the other shops still i can order what i want from #2 and still maybe get a better deal and service than from #3.[:(!] sana totoo na SALE nila.[8)]

www. Great Toys.com at shopsville & along taft ave.

cbrain,

did i get the name right?

Mang Ernie,

the website is http://www.greattoys.net [:)]

Dear People,
Thanks for the replies. Visited Cubao yesterday and where there were three hobby stores there is only the one at Ali Mall left. The two at the old Rustans (now a tiangge) are gone.Perhaps it’s a sign of the times. I did compare prices and SPS is a little more expensive. Where can one buy photoetched accessories for 1/700 and 1/350 ships? Puede ba mag-order through JMN?

thanks Emjae, i was also refering to the shop’s physical location i think?..[:D]

Max

Yup, i usually order them from JMNs.

Rod

Check this out http://filairsoft.com if you want to know more about airsoft.

We usually buy stuff at Lowdogs and Hobby Depot the BBs cost around P380/pack .20g (5000 BBs)this would last you around 2-3 games well, depends on how much you discharge your weapon and the Tokyo Marui hi-cap is around P1200.

i bought my TM M4A1 for P12.8k putting me in temporary poor mode.[:D]

Ah, isasama ba natin mga sci-fi kit stores? ehehehe

  1. Wonder Toys - Galleria, Festival Supersmall, Alabang Town Center - what’s good about this place is naka 50% off mga Gundam kits nila minsan matatawaran mo pa kung makulit ka… bad kasi halos paubos na.

  2. SM Toy Kingdom / Kids Station / Toy Town - These are all different stores and have lots of branches but they have one thing in common… They’re all supplied with Gundam kits by Bankee. Their prices are all the same tapos usually mga Wing and Seed series kits lang meron sila.

  3. www.GreatToys.net - na-mention na ng iba… mention ko rin meron sila branch sa Goldcrest in Glorietta.

  4. Arena - Shoppesville Arcade in Greenhills, tabi ng GreatToys.

  5. Best Toys - they used to have a branch in Viramall but the mall is currently being renovated so next branch I know of is sa Goldcrest din in Glorietta.

[:D] ayan… dagdag pa kayo pag may hindi ako na-include.

Does Great toys carry scale models as well? I checked their site and all I saw are sci-fi & anime kits and figs.

beans, great toys specialize in mecha ans anime kits, toys, i believe they also have videos.

if you want to order online for local hobby shops, try checking if lil’s already has an online shop, but i believe you can order online from jmn or you can just call tehm up for your inquiries and ask them re their webbie if they have one. [:)]

Hi guys. Been a while since the last time I posted here.

Kel that Tomcat is gorgeous!

BTW this the lates from my bench:

Diorama No. 13 - TIT FOR TAT.

This is about two G.I.s on a jeep that accidentally wandered into enemy territory. While stopped at the end of the bridge, some Germans unfortunately ambushed them instantly killing the driver. The passenger however, although was hit and wounded, fell off jeep and pretended to be dead. When the Germans left their hiding positions, the G.I. started taking them down one by one…a case of the hunter becoming the hunted.

But there are too many…can the G.I. survive?

Note:

Jeep - Tamiya
Figures - Driver - Tamiya
Others - Dragon
Bridge - popsicle sticks
Base - Styro topped with wall putty
River - White Glue
Tree/shrubs - Wire + Scotchbrite Pad + Woodland Scenics Turf

Boo-boos:
1.) Water - I didn’t give enough time for the glue to dry before adding a new layer. This produced a cloudy water instead of clear.
2.) Gun flash - It looks primitive, really fake and funny… [:p]
3.) Trees/Shrubs - I kinda messed up the color, I guess

Sorry for the excessive violence in this Diorama.

Sorry medyo marami and pics…medyo matagal e-load.
