Tip needed for Sexy Blonde

Hello,

I’m building/painting a 1/16 figure of BatGirl (Hasegawa kit). No problem with the BatGirl suit ([:p]) but I’m not so sure about how to represent her nice blond hair. How should I paint it? I normally use enamel or acrylic as base coat then artist oils [:I]

Thanks!

The subject line definitely caught my attention…

No idea how to help with the hair, but I’d sure like to see the finished product…

Later,

Murray

The oils will definately give you the tonal depth and sheen of hair.

Here is a link to a website that has a nice tutorial on doing blond hair.

Thanks for that link, Rogue.

djmodels1999,

I use standard wash and drybrush techniques to bring out the detail in the hair of most figures. Before adding that last application of clear satin or gloss, I drybrush a slight touch of the appropriate hue of metallic paint over the hair. Gold or brass would be the obvious choice for your Batgirl. A little metallic paint goes a long way toward making hair look like hair.

Test it on an old model and see for yourself. Good luck!

Thanks for that, Mark. It sounds like a … sound advice!
