Another in my recent ‘parade’ of 1/144 projects, this time under the Trumpeter label in the 1990s…though, yet again, it actually originated with the Japanese company Crown in the mid-'70s.
Like many/most of the Crown kits, it lacks much detail…and there’s something a little ‘off’ about its appearance. The kits all had pretty lousy canopies, both shape- and line-wise; but the aircraft shape overall is also a bit too squat and lumpy. Added to that, the characteristic loadout…the cool Rb-04 anti-ship missiles…seem a trifle oversized.
Still I’m mostly incapable of resisting putting the Swedish FOA ‘crazy quilt’ on any likely subject…so here it is. Hope you enjoy it for what it is!
The Strv103 (and yours looks grand) is one of my favorite AV’s as well…ever since I built the 1/48 motorized Tamiya one, back in the '70s. My brother and I used to run those motorized babies along the garden wall, and ‘call in an artillery strike’ with my dad’s .22 pellet gun. (They could take a surprising number of hits and keep running, until a lucky shot would dislodge one of the AA batteries. [:D])
