tiny hole in bottle

Hello fellow models

this is probly a silly question to most of you Guys who use airbrushes, but Im new at using them, anyway can anyone tell why is there a tiny hole in the top of the spray bottle and is it nomal for it to leak form this tiny hole every time I try to use my airbrush, because I find it very aggraviting[:(!] and what can I do to fix this problem-thank you

Ronald

Ronald, the hole is there so air can displace the paint exiting the jar through the airbrush nozzle. I never mix/fill my jars any more than about 1/4 full…more than enough for most airbrushing sessions.

ooh ok I understand about the hole and just fill the bottle 1/4" full thank you

Without the hole the bottle would vapor lock and no paint could come out.

That is it’s purpose. [swg]

Actually Mike, it isn’t vapor lock,it’s a vacuum lock. You can get the same effect by sucking on a plastic straw and pinching off the open end of the straw. Vapor lock is when you have a volatile liquid (ie gasoline) in a line and it gets heated to its boiling temp. The liquid begins to bubble and the bubbles won’t flow thru the line.

Sorry to get so anal, but it’s Saturday, it’s early and I haven’t got enough caffine in my body yet! lol

Thanks for the correction my friend. [(-D]
