Hi everybody,
I want to know if there’s anybody out there that has tried tinting aircraft canopies, so they are no longer clear but have that greenish hue. I’m interested in trying this for my new project, and want to know if there’s any best known method out there for doing this.

Depends on what colour of green and how deep a tint. There is a ‘clear green’ paint by Tamiya. But I’m not sure if this is the tint your are going for.

Not sure about green but I tinted one blue using a blue ink marker once. Looked pretty good. Give it a test and see what you think.
if u want gold take a tamiya x 20 a comtainer the large glass one and put enough gold paint in there to cover the bottem, then fill up with clear gloss. shake and wait till all the gold settles, usually 24 ish hours. apply.
you could also try the Model Masters Acryl acrylic clear paints…they dry fast and I have had some good results.

[:0] Model Master clear acrylics? Wow, wonder how I missed those! I tried tinting canopies gold with Humbrol clear gold but it wound up a bit overstated. Going to have to give those model masters a try…[^]
I use the Tamiya clear acrylics… and you can put a few drops in some Future, then air-brush it on.
what I do is get a two part clear resin. some of these resin could be mixed with transparent green and you could actually work the density of it. you know how you make green or blue water! well you dip the canopy into that and just sand it off on the edge. it works great for me or those future floor wax IS water base(another option). i use future with a little drop of food dye.
This may sound silly , but I have used clothes dye to tint canopies…the longer you leave in, the deeper the color.
I use tint for color glass panel (use in a church window… my vocabulary is poor …), the result is good…and more cheap than others common clear acrylics…
