I found a tub of acrylic latex tile grout in my store room and was wondering if it can be used for making a groung base?
Anyone ever use tile grouts before?
I’ve used tile grout for ground bases, it works quite nicely. See my “Shellshocked” dio somewhere around here…Latex tile grout, I don’t know about that, never used it, just the non-sanded kind. I just poured on the stuff dry roughly spread it out to where I wanted it, lightly misted it with water, and added white glue/water so it cures harder. You could pre-mix it with water and glue first and add it to your base and shape it as you see fit. Remember, if you are going to have vehicles in the scene, make sure you have them ready, and while the grout has hardened slightly, press the vehicles into it to create ruts and track/wheel marks into the ground, you won’t be able to do this once it’s fully cured. Good luck![:)]
…as have I used tile grout for desert groundcover, beautiful stuff to use if you want a natural layering of sand and you don`t have to worry about the whiteglue and water mix, just use water. My current dio"the bridge" uses tile grout,I now have to purchase more!
Thanks for the feedback. The instructions says that I can even tint it to the color I want. Will try it out this weekend and hope I can post a pic next week of the result. Cheers.[:)]
What a cool thread! I’m going to try this myself.
