After many years of being out of print, this much sought after book by Wolfgang Schneider is now available in paperback, for the bargin price of $30. A very nice book, long missing from my collection, I ordered a copy last night from Powell’s Bookstore in Portland, OR. If you don’t own a copy, get one before these are gone too!
Great, I just noticed Amazon.com has it for only $19.77! [:(!] Oh, well, it’s not actually costing me anything anyway! [8-]
And no, I am not affiliated with Powell’s Books or Amazon.com in any way, shape or form.
There are so many books out on Tigers, and I’d really like just to find that one magic book. My library is very limited and the cost of books competes with my model budget so second hand stores are my best bet and now they’re even getting expensive. Semper Fi, mike
Depending on what you are looking for, this is my opinion on them:
For information, Jentz’s ‘Germany’s Tiger Tanks’ is considered the Bible.
For pics, Restayn’s Tigers on the Eastern (and Western) Front are great values.
For modeling info, MMiR’s Modeling the Tiger Tank is excellent at the price.
That being said, the book Peridexion mentioned above would be a steal at $20.
I couldn’t agree more. But, as a rule of thumb never trust a single reference source, always try to revarify any information with another source. There is no such thing as a single magic book about the Tiger tank.
When it comes to picture reference “Tigers in combat Vol 1 & 2” are the best there is. I got them several years ago as hardbound, and I can only say that anyone interested in Tigers should get these book no that they are released as soffbound.
Thanks for the feedback on recommended Tiger books Ausf and TMN1. You both make very good points in that one should probably have multiple sources of info when researching and building for accurarcy. I will leave the author and titles to Jentz and Stayns, books near my wifes desk. Who knows maybe Christmas isn’t over yet! Thanks again guys. Semper Fi, mike
