how do you add details like a working headlight. im thinking about hollowing the light out, andputting in a LED light, with a battery connection. Sound good? any help is appreciated. Also is there any way I can make itseem like ther is smoke coming out of the back engine compartment, without justputting a cand which would melt the tank in the hull. any ideas? This is all for an ENglish project i have to do.
anyone?
This is just a WAG but how about trying model railroad parts for the smoke and the lights? I’ve seen both of these items on a friends model railroad and they look good.
[:)]I agree with Kaleu your best bet is a railmodel shop.
[?]How come, a Tiger for an English project…Kenny
good question so, for my englkish project called portfolio, we are supposed to produce some writing examples for and put them in a binder. WE also need to create an exhibit that has something to do with our writing. I wrote a short haiku and story about what is going throug the head of a KT tank commander in the final days of WWII in the winter of 44-45.
[:)]Let’s have a look at what you wrote.!
I agree, can we see your haiku? I would like to read it.
Dave
If you can find an LED small enough to fit in the light thats a good idea and simple at that (RadioShack has LEDs). My guess is that you won’t be able to find a LED small enough so you can get some fiber optic or just a clear rod of plastic (flexible) that you can snake from the light hidden inside into the light. Let me know if you need a better description. I remember seeing an article in an old FSM about a diorama that used smoke makers and red LEDs. I can’t seem to find it right now but I’m sure someone else here remembers it. I’d like to see the Haiku as well!
yhea that would b great if any of you guys have that article.
so heres the hauiku
Lost again on the Road of life choosing once more between left and Right.
by the way the diorama is a King TIger siting in rhe ardenes forest anroudn winter of 44, at a forked road. the commander is standing outside trying to orient a map.
there is more though.
The crossroads beckon, in the failing sun
one may lead to death
another will lead to life
also the story
O’ how I wish this silly war was over Dragging on for years now. The furer dosent understand, but we all know that the war is over. at least for us. Ie was over since the Allies landed, however none the less, the Axis powers will continue to fight on. I will carry out my orders and do as I am told until the glorious fatherland is no more, or has arranged a peace. I have been ordered to stand guard around here. The other two tanks in my division were destroyed, that was long ago two when we were retreating from canenea in France. The allies have pushed on through the forests, and we are mostly fighitng in our land, Germany now. Its early January, Ive lost count of the days, but I know it is January by the way the days have become excruciatingly long, and the nights biteing cold. much of the army is on the run now, even the mighty Waffen SS is no match for the allies. THe entire American army is coming down one of these roads, and we are going to be in the middle of their hellstorm. we are low on petrolium, and my loayl crew and I can not put up much of a fight. WE wont last long. choosing one of the roads is tempting, maybe we will miss them, maybe I should turn aroudn and run. That is a tempting choice. FAte. It is only a matter of time before they get here. IT is onlya matter of time before the mighty fatherland is crushed between the rath of Russia and the ALlied powers. IT is only a matter of time before all of Germany pays for Hitler’s blunders.
that’s very good. your project sounds great. good luck
What scale are you working with? A friend of mine has several 1/16 tanks and of those owns a full option Porsche King Tiger. He also has it equipped with a smoke generator that pushes smoke out of the exhausts. His screen name is Panzerdriver and he built his own smoke generator using a high intensity bulb. He has a container with oil that drips onto the bulb, which in turn generates the smoke. He even rigged a small fan to blow it out of the exhausts! I don’t have his email address handy, but you should subscribe to the Yahoo Group: Armornutsrcarmorhut. Other members of that forum have also successfully configured their KTs with a working headlight. Go there and ask your question and you will soon get a response to both of your questions. Best of luck.
Okieboy
I like it JF. thanks for sharing
Dave
Okieboy’s suggestion of a smoke generator is good. I used to see this alot in model railroading and it works ok. It does smell a little though and they prolly won’t let you bring it in school, chemicals and all that. Another effective idea is making smoke with cotton balls. You have to string out the cotton balls very very thin so you can see through it but still see the cotton strands. Mist it very lightly with dark gray paint and viola you have some smoke. When done right this looks very real.
[:)]Yes that looks good, thank you for showing to us.
One small point, I hope for an English project your spelling improves a little[:D]…Kenny
I have a broken hadn and it is hard to type. that accounts for the spelling errors as for everything else, it is a 1/35 scale KT. I bought the LED’s and they are a bit too big for the headlight, and the smoke generator seems to be a little bit too expensive/ and big.
Go with I-beam’s cotton idea.
thanks guys for all your wounderful help and compliments. I really wounder how im gonna write a 7 page essay if i cant even type with my right hand when I write right handed for my history essay
[oops][#oops] uh Why did you go a break your hand??? Sorry just kidding. What happened?
