tiger I hatches interior color.

i have seen many pics of early tiger I’s with different colors between the interior color and the hatch color. not to start a huge debate on the correct interior color, but if the interior was a light grey, and the hatches were open, wouldn’t that also be a light grey, or in the pics i have seen, a primer like color?

The inside of the hatches should be the same color as the exterior of the tank. If the exterior was panzer gray then the interior of the hatch should be the same. You wouldn’t want the enemy to know your hatches were open by leaving them white.

got ya. i remember now. we had a big discussion about this awhile back. san’t seem to figure out why i saw a kit with red primer colored interior hatches. i think the color was called terracotta. so to answer my own question, probably dunkengeld for a tiger I early version. thanks

The commander’s hatch had a soft pad fixed to it, that would be brown I think.

Otherwise, the hatch insides were generally the original base colour for the outside of the vehicle, though a few times we see them painted in Ivory due to mistakes at the factory.

The Tiger’s turret-side escape hatch was generally painted Ivory since it wasn’t for everyday use.
