I began with the DML “initial” 3&1 kit. I wanted to do something a little different. I came across some reference material concerning the sPZ Ab. 503 at Kursk showing a few companies with early Tigers mounting the Mk lV stowage box on the turret. ( it turns out that the 502nd transfered these tanks over after Leningrad). I decided to model a Kursk very early production Tiger. Fenders and mud guards are scratch built along with the tow cable and other details. I shaved matchsticks and replaced all the pioneer tool handles with real wood, as well as the jacking block.
Figures are Frankensteined from the spares box. Most reference photos showed crews in thier Gray fatigue shirts, it was too hot for the field jackets. I scupted the shirts to be accurate.
The build has a complete engine compartment, I’ll post at a later time…thinking about a dio…
Simply top notch work Steve! I wouldn’t expect anything less from an old tanker like yourself. The weathering and wear are excellent, and the research you put into this project validate all the little touches you have made to this build. Always happy to look at your work and learn from your tips. From one over the hiller to another. Semper Fi, Mike
Steve,
What’s to say? [tup][tup][tup][tup][tup]. Has to be an impressive build to elicit complimentary comments from that guy in Meeeechigan [XX][:-^].
Hey Stug, just kidding [swg]
Studying the photos to help me when I try and finish my next project.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate all the good words, even if some of them come from Michigan…[:D] I am sure Dragon will come out with an early Tiger to make all this extra work for naught. There must be at least a mid pro release in the works which will contain common sprues.
This build was probably the best Tiger that I have ever experienced. DML has definitely crossed the barrier on this release. There is only one problem with raising the bar, you’ve got to keep it there, we’ll see in the future.
