Tiger 1 fueling

Doing a diorama with a Tiger 1 during re-supply. Off the wall question, but where was the fuel inlet located? I have researched a lot of sites, but can not find any data that shows the location.

Thanks.

Fuels cells were located on both sides of the engine compartment. The filler is under the small round armored cover at the front of the front set of grills on the back deck. The ones between the grills are the radiator fillers.

The fuel filler caps are on the forward end of the engine deck on each side in the front center of front grills. The look like a phillips head screw. The similar caps on each side of the engine just forward of the rear grills are for the radiatiors.

Some data:

TomZ, I think that is a Tiger II. The tanks are sloped to match the contours of the external sloped side armor.

Thanks everyone for your help. I knew I could get an answer here.

I agree with Stik, that’s a King Tiger Tom is showing you.

See if you can scare up a copy of the old Squadron-Signal Tiger In Action It’s full of black and white reference photos.

Didn’t Squadron do a “Tiger Walk Around” book fairly recently?

We apologize for the fault in the image. Those responsible have been sacked.

(Yes, that was a Tiger II.) Kyoshi Harada draw this Tiger I cutaway(s):
