Tie Breaker #3 for Trivia Series #7 - for jeaton and skybolt2003 ONLY

This was a twin-engined aircraft whose first prototype flew in 1948. The aircraft accommodated up to five people and was powered by two piston engines. It saw military service, but was primarily a general aviation aircraft. It has a singular distinction as being the smallest of a very well known series of aircraft, and the first to carry it’s distinctive livery. It still remains in government service. A very well known person died in this aircraft while flying in a thunderstorm along with five others and the pilot. This airplane flew an aerobatic act for nearly three decades with it’s only accident being the result of the plane accidentally being loaded with jet fuel, leading to engine failure on takeoff.
