Tian Jie 1:144 Yamato

Just wrapping up the build of a 1:144 Tian Jie Yamato, which is in a 5 part series in Ships in Scale magazine. Only took a year.

Pat Matthews

BTW… in 1:144, a Yamato is six feet long.

Darn, the LHS doesn’t have any of those cute little plastic display cases that will fit!

Sweet!

WOW! That is just too nice, my utmost respect to you.

Amazing work! Thanks for sharing. [tup]

Impressive,great build wish i had one,Digger.

Wow, that looks awesome, what did you use for painting the deck, looks great.

David

Great job,way to hang in there to finish it. I really like the hangar detail. Somehow didn’t occur to me that that is where they kept the planes. DUH!. Where can a guy get one of those kits?

Thanks!

Where to get? Try calling Don at www.loyalhannadockyard.com . Don’t forget to bring your wallet. Don’t forget to read my series on it in Ships in Scale (www.seaways.com) BEFORE writing the check!

Deck? Painted? Nope, this is no injection molded kit.
You’re looking at wood planking… and not scribed sheet either, but 1/16" wide individual strips with black caulking lines between them, and then a very thin wash to simulate both the natural weathered grey and the remains of the 1944 soot application- which I like but is highly debatable!

Very nice build and very big one!

Wow, how many hours did you put into this model?

David

Hours? We don’t refer to “hours”, just having loads of fun!

Actually, started it in November last year.

Six feet?

Buy it a nice soft bed to rest on. [swg]

That would lookm awesome photoshopped into this picture:

Next you need to match this one

David

This is as far as I’ll go in that direction:
