Thunder Over Michigan 2004

If anyone is going to be in SE Michigan on August 7 & 8, there will be one of the lagest warbird events in North America at the Willow Run Airport. This years theme is “A Salute to Naval Aviation” & will feature 17 ( yup 17) TBM Avengers as well as several Wildcats, Hellcats, Bearcats & many, many other restored warbirds. If your interested, you can get all of the info at www.yankeeairmuseum.org.

Regards, Rick

I would very much appreciate photos of the passenger seating - tunnel, turret, and mid cockpit - in the COD version of the TBM that might be among the 17.

Thanks Rick.

I wish it wasn’t 2,000 miles away or I would attend without a doubt. [;)]

Mike, If you decide to trek the 2000 miles, we’ve got a real nice guest room where you would be welcome to stay & the wifes a great cook.

Now that is tempting Rick! [;)]
I will be coming home from the Nats on the 7th. [:D]

Thanks for the offer my friend, I appreciate the offer very much.

Mike

Does anyone know how long a drive that is from let’s say Toledo?

From Toledo, allow about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic & construction. Two hours would be plenty safe. It’s at exit #20, Ecorse Road, off I-275.

Regards, Rick

1.5 to 2 hours to go 40 miles?? Somebody goes very slow. I live in Flint and and be there in just over an hour. I’m thinking I might go.

Tim, I was factoring in the time to get into the airport. There is usually a bit of a back up once you exit I-275. That & the last time I drove I-275 there were several slow downs due to construction.

Regards, Rick

I heard about the show some time ago.I’ve been planning to go ever since.I figure it should take me about 6hrs to drive from my home in southern ont give or take several hrs at the border.Looks like it’s going to be an awesome show.I can’t wait to get there.

Thanks for the info… I’ll see if I can convince my dad to make the trip with me. That doesn’t make it a horrible drive from Columbus.
