I can’t seem to find a good color for the light green on the old analog three color sert BDUs, yet have seem many figures with the color and they look great and are the perfect color. Any comments would be welcomed, thanks!
I don’t know the exact color other than “pale green” but maybe Tamiya XF21 sky might be close
Okay, I’ll try that, thanks
Not unless you thin it first–mix a bit with white, or some other paint to lighten it, or it will come out too dark. (Especially if you’re going to weather the camo–then it’s even lighter…)
Good luck, and I hope it turns out great.
There is no “green” per se in DCUs. Two shades of tan, one neutral and grayer, the other with pinkish hue, and the light brown. 30277 and 30279 work for the tans.

Thanks I apreciate it. I read in another article that you painted digital camo and said it came out good. I’m working on a Marine Corps Sniper Team right now in 1/16 righ now, and I have been trying to get the MARPAT desert camo down, have any advice on that?
Arrggg…
“Take a breath, Sarge…Now unclench your jaw and hands…”
Ok…
There is no such uniform in the US Army…
It’s called the DCU, or “Desert Camouflage Uniform”… And the current combat and duty uniform is the ACU, Army Combat Uniform… It ain’t a " Digital Army Uniform"
And while we’re at it, the Army uniform for the desert prior to the DCU, and known as “Chocolate Chips” was the DBDU, or Desert Battle-Dress Uniform…
“Analog”… Sheesh…
Now Drop and gimme 20!

DBDUs AKA “Chocolate Chips”

BDUs AKA Woodland Camo (not analog)

ERDL Jungle Leaf (late and early)

Um, thanks, sorry, but I know several former and current military guys that call the old three color "DCU"s analog three color. As for the ACUs I didn’t say anything thing about that, I said MARPAT, which is the current Marine Corps uniform which I am trying to paint, not the ACUs, Thanks for the history though.
I’d drop them for 20 as well, lol…
I know, that was just FYI… A little bit via AR670-1-MSG Hammer… As for MARPAT, I don’t care what the Juggies call their Waffen-SS uniforms…[:P]
Analog??? Probably from the new breed Msgt… the ones who wanted vegetarian combat rations[;)] Although I will admit that the MRE heater is the best thing since sliced bread in a cold weather environment[;)] Much more practical that trioxane or hexmine tabs when you could get those from supply or other sources…
Well I like the MARPAT better than anything else so that’s what I’ll be working on, I’m not really into the grey color of the ACUs.
i use a combination of humbrol paints specifically #159 and #90

Thanks for the paint numbers. Were they an even 1:1 mix or just kind of unitl it looked right? I really like the figure, the uniform looks great.
im assuming your asking me (sorry if ur not)…n/p as i try to help whom i can. the #159 is the darker color and the #90 is the light. i usually take a “Scoop” of the 159 to my pallet then add a small scoop to it and mix. exact measurments arent necessary. just keep in mind that the more lighter color u add to it the “lighter” it will make the mix. while it may still look kind of dark on your brush it will dry the color u see. take a piece of scrap and try it out. hope that helps. [t$t]
If I had not seen the results of mixing those two colors I would not believe it. Wow![Y]
thanks stik. i accidentally mixed them once and the rest is history…lol. it must be liked as i’ve been winning alot of 1st places at local shows using it lately.
Wow…
Yeah…Can’t even find troops that know how to make an MRE heater with the tabs… PLUS, they don’t smoke, they don’t read any newspapers in the dayroom, they don’t even drink COFFEE!!! Damn pot was ALWAYS empty, with dried-up, burnt coffee in the pot…
All they know about the First Gulf War they learned watchin’ “Three Kings”, don’t know what Pogie Bait is, have to take “sensitivity Training” classes, never heard of “Wall-to-Wall Counseling”, don’t know a SINGLE ONE of the 78 places on an M113 that will open a bottle of beer, don’t know how to heat a cuppa joe on the exhaust of an M109A3 (hell, they don’t what an A3 is!) an’ they think a steel pot is something the Mess Sergeant keeps in the “Dining Facility” kitchen. (What happened to the Mess Hall, anyway? Where’d it go?)…
“Vegitarian MREs”… How much Vegetable Lasagna, Veggie Burgers, or Cheese Tortellini can ya eat? And why is it that that’s all that’s left in the case when I go get mine?
Can’t even get a good “FM” at th’ PX… Gotta rely on that Auld Phart Motor Sergeant and his pervy mechs to provide thirty-year old copies of Hustler and Penthouse that’re inside FM/TM covers in bottom file cabinet …
AND WHERE TH’ HELL’S MY LIFER-JUiCE!!
“New Breed”… Sheesh… What’s my Army comin’ too?..Vegitarians with rifles…
Sigh
AIn’t hardly worth going t’ war anymore…
Master Sergeant (ret) Hammer sends.
kinda see a resembalance there col? [:D]
