Please state your favourite aircraft used in a movie or TV show. Please tell us why as well. This can be a real or fictional aircraft and to make it interesting try to give us answers which are not completely obvious (ie.not the Spitfire from the Battle of Britian movie with Michael Caine)…now, if you got an issue, here’s a tissue! Give us your best original answer!
My choices: the “Mig-23” from Iron Eagle which was more like a F-21 I believe and the Folland Gnat/Ajeet from the movie Hot Shots which I didnt realise until I saw it on TV at 4am drunk recently.
Always - love the end scene with the A-26 roaring through the forest fire. Turn out the lights and put that on the big screen, crank the stereo and feel the engines throb.
Amen to that one Swanny! I have an old Airfix kit in the stash to do the very bird that Holly Hunter uses at the end…silly girl for cracking it up though!
Here’s another…the Grumman Goose from the show “The Gold Monkey”. There were the Zero’s from Baa Baa Blacksheep in it as well, was on for maybe two seasons…just a cool plane with a cool paint job.
I didn’t like this aircraft at first, but after I saw the F-18 used in the movie. “Behind Enemy Lines” it kind of grew on me. Now I have several kits in my stash waiting to be built .
Also, is it just me or did the F-14 kick tail in the movie Top Gun??? I know, I know this was probable too obvious. This movie got me to start building aircraft models.
I thought the answer to this was obvious, Little Nellie from You Only Live Twice.
Ken Wallis is an unsung genius!
Lee, if you’re reading this, did you ever complete that autogyro? I must get around to taking pics of the one I built to send to you.
Blue Thunder? well that was an amazing chase sequence in the film, but, flick a switch to cut the rotor noise? every Huey & Chinook pilots dream, I should think!
Pete
I have to agree with Swanny on the A-26, and add the Beechcraft Super 18 flown by Sky King, one of my favorite shows on Saturday morning those many (40+) years ago!
