The Wolf's Photo Files - Moving Day Over, Back in Business...

Seems that some of you fellas are eager to see what the Wolf has stashed on his hard drive or in his library, and I like to try and share this stuff whenever and however I can. So I’m gonna start this thread and keep adding new images to it random-like…

FYI: Although I have resized many of the images in this thread, a great number of them are still very large on-screen and may be a hassle to view in the FSM Forum image-resize pop-up window thingy. So if you want to view an image full-size and there’s a link below that image, I’d recommend using the link instead of clicking on the image. That way the larger image will open in a separate window and you don’t have to scroll all over the place to close it out and get back to browsing the forums.

August 21st, 2004: I’m in the middle of transferring all the images in this thread to a different host. Most images will stay, some will go, many will be resized…

August 22nd, 2004: Moving day is over!!! Most of the images have been moved to the new photo host, with only a few getting the axe. Many have been resized, though.

I will be making more changes in the future, such as replacing many of the older images with much smaller versions to save on bandwith. I may also use smaller images for new posts and ask that if someone wants a larger image, I can email it to them if it’s available.

Here’s the first one:

This is a Bf 109K-4 ‘Black 15’ of IV./.JG 53 at Schleissheim, Germany in Fall, 1945.

This scan is from a 5x7 print that I grabbed at the 2002 NATS from a guy named Jim Crow. Those of you who get to the National Convention on a regular basis will more than likely know Jim. Good fella…

Ain’t it groovy, John?

This is an image which I use in my wallpaper rotation. I can’t remember where I grabbed it from, somewhere off the net. All I know is that it’s a Fulcrum of the Hungarian Air Force.

This is another I grabbed from the net. I was looking for shots of bare-metal Mustangs devoid of any markings except stars, bars and serials. I was hoping to find a nice, big, decent quality image that fit the bill to avoid having to scan some. This is the pick of the finds from that hunt…

This is a Mirage IIICZ of 2 Sqn, SAAF. This came from an old ish of WARPLANE, so the quality ain’t that great. But it’s much better than most scans from those rags. Quality or not, it’s a rather striking image…

This is a scanned image from a Monogram Closeup showing a Bf 109G-6/U2 of JG 53 at the Henschel Aero Engine Works, Attenbaum, Germany.

This Aviatik was the first victim of Francesco Baracca, Italy’s greatest ace of WWI, who brought it down while flying a Nieuport 11 on April 7th, 1916. It was also the first Italian victory of the war.

Baracca, like many pilots of the Great War, (and many others since) decorated his aircraft with a personal emblem; in this case a prancing black horse. It is said that, in 1923, Baracca’s mother suggested to Enzo Ferarri that he use her son’s emblem on his automobiles.

This is a Koolhoven FK 58 of the Armée de l’Air. I’ve got more info on this photo somewhere, I’ll have to dig it out. I do know that this particular aircraft was assigned to a Technical School when this photo was taken and that after the outbreak of hostilities, most of these Dutch-built machines were flown by Polish pilots in local defense flights.

These are two EC 2/2 COTE D’OR Mirage 2000C’s. EC 2/2 comprises three escadrilles: SPA 65 ‘Chimère d’argent’, SPA 57 ‘la Mouette’ and SPA 94 ‘la mort qui fauche’. Pulled this off the net somewhere…
