Has anyone done a diorama of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
I remember one dio of a portion of the wall. it was done with a smoked glass front and had figs looking back out atthe viewers. Very well done but for the life of me I can’t remember which magazine I saw it in.
Thanks. I am starting a 1/35 diorama of the entire wall, including figures. This is going to be fun. Start date Nov 11, 2003 finish date Nov 11, 2004.
Good Luck. Should be an interesting piece.
Robert.
Shep Paine did it.

I’m looking forward to seeing it. Yup, it should be very interesting. I’ve been to the place & when you’re there it kinda gives you a sad feeling looking @ the names of over 50,000 men who lost their lives as you’ve said for GOD & COUNTRY.
Thanks for the reminder Mike. Was that in his building dioramas book?
yeah i saw that Robert it was in a very old fine scale modler
i wonderd how it was done
It’s in his house.
It works using the same principle as Disney uses for the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. There is an image that is angled and lit so it will reflect on the backside of the material used for the shiny surface of the wall. It creates the “ghostly” images of the guys looking back at the guy leaning grief stricken against the wall.
I have a print of this painting and it is one of the few pieces of art that can truly bring me to tears when I view it.
