The Stuart is on the shelf!! ( Pics)

Here’s the latest to roll off the assembly line here at Lizard’s Workshop. The Academy 1/35 M3 Stuart "Honey with interior. I went with the US version since the kit will not make an accurate British Honey [:(]. This was a fun little build to do with everything OOB with the exception of the accesories on the back that I pulled out of my parts box. I tried out the technique that Petbat told me about with the scouring pad to give the look of chipped paint, it worked great. The pics don’t really show how good this looks, I just hope I did’nt go over board with it. I was going with the individual tracks but due to a toddler technical difficulty ( see earlier post ) I had to go with the also included one piece tracks. All in all this was a pretty nice build with a few exceptions. First was that the hull would not fit with the turret basket on, so let’s just make believe that this is a US and British crossbreed since its not there. The biggest problem had to be the single piece tracks[:(!], I do believe the indi’s were less hassle. They were about 1 mm to short and would not stay attached for nothing, kept popping right apart [banghead]. Wound up having to put CA on each road whhel and where they connect and holding till glue dried, still popped off till we had a nice [censored] conversation about what I was about to do with the lighter sitting next to me and they decided to stay on. I would say this is a good kit in the end though. Sorry to be long winded , but the more I learn about these beasts, the more I have to say also. Hope you enjoy the pics and as always comment and complaints are welcome.

And now into the Panther box we go…

lizardqing2,
Good looking model. I have this model on my shelf and have thought about starting it soon. I’ll be sure to keep your build review in mind when I start this kit. Did you use enamels or acrylics?

Chris, you continue to impress me. Your work just keeps getting better. I think it looks great. Can’t wait to see you do tri-color pattern on your Panther. [8D]

Chris Looks great! I agree your work is getting better and better!

Kaleu- I used a little of both. The main color is MM O.D. enamel, interior is testors flat white enamel. Acrylics used were Tamiya gun metal and dark green for the chipped paint areas. Let me know when you start and I can hook you up with some good references.

Eric & Chris- Thanks , I owe it all to you guys here, now way I could be doing better everytime with out y’alls help.

Excellent work Chris … without a doubt your finest work to date IMO.

Sorry to hear about the earlier “attack”, give him a hug anyway.

A little suggestion in regards to your tracks. I notice that because they are so tight they are forming a slight gap at the bottom. Take a couple of your end connectors from the indy set and glue them in the spaces and it may improve the look a touch.

Great work on the weathering both inside and out.

As always, thanks for sharing.

Great looking Stuart, Chris[tup]

Tim

Excellent Stuart!

LQ:
that’s a fine looking stuart u’ve created there !
nice job on the chipping and weathering… u’re doing great work !
i started a stuart myself last week, a nice hasegawa 1/72 kit. it’s coming along nicely… i was amazed at how small those tanks were compared to most of the other ones i’ve built so far.
so what did the missus build to go with, a pzkpfw 38t ?

the countdown 2 the official start of the panther build is almost over, yay !

NIce looking Stuart!

Great job Lizard !

You did a great job weathering in and around those boltsand panel lines and the stowage is a nice little touch.

Put it up high - you just made a great entisement for any little toy hungry toddler[angel]

Nice job

Real nice work Chris, can’t wait to see what you do with the Panther.

Robert- Thanks for that idea, I’ll give it a try for sure.

Frosty- 1/72 of this little guy, now thats impressive! There were some parts on this one that I thought had to be that scale cause they were so small. She’s still “working” on the P-38. Been a week or two since it was on the table though. Looks like I’ll be giving 1/72 a try, a budy gave me a Hasegawa Jagdpanzer IV for early christams present, should be fun.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

…it’s fun & great to have a day off…and these fabulous pics…look real to me…jeffl

Chris, I get impressed more and more every time you post a new models. Thankyou for sharing.

Weathering is perfect and so is the interior detail [tup]

it looks realy good
nice colour and nice weathering
you could put it on a base and hide the gap with a rock or bush

That’s one banged up little tank Chris. Looks great.
