hi all it’s me again. Sorry for not being around much lately, posting wise. I finally got a bit of motivation to sit at the bench and finish off a few projects I started a while back, and have been sitting on the shelf saying “finish me”.
First off I’ll finally get the other ESCI T55 done and then an old Tamiya Matilda I started working on 7 years ago. The Matilda was to be a wreck with complete interior including the motor comp with twin motors. Well now that Tamiya has the new matilda out, I need some way of using the old lady.
The two tanks will be part of a dio called the scrap yard. Two old tanks and a lot of rusty metal plates and beams. There will also be some wooden planks with chipping paint. [:D]
Another project that I have going, actually is what gave me the kick in the butt to build. An M3 Stuart converted to a farm tractor used by the Aussies after the war. Can you say rust bucket.
Hear is a pic of the T55 as it stands, I did some weathering today.
Tony I had a little R&R and just couldn’t get back into the swing of things as far as the rust buckets go. I spent some time getting my site up and running, and a special something. I’m back with new ideas and look forward to playing with rust again.
Rick, thanks, I haven’t seen the video of the grave yard but have seen lots of pics. Awesome reference material.
Interesting video. I came across some pics of either this or another graveyard in Afghanistan that had a couple of Renault FT17’s left there by the British in the early 20’s. Aparently there were discussions with the French and Afghan governments about taking thte tanks to America for restoration. I never did find out waht happend to them though, and I think that the articles that I’m thinking of were from the 2004-2006 timeframe.
~Rob~ Happy to see you going on this, Buddy ! This one’s going to be a masterpiece in the end…I have a feeling. I want a souviner from this 'ole scrap yard too[;)]
~Rick~ Yup , intersesting CNN story for us armor guys & hey–you’re pretty cool for being the Force of Darkness and all!
Yep!..definitley can use that phrase. Plenty of cars over here we still use that for…i think mine may come under that category toooooo…[8-)]
Fantastic build Scratchmod. Do you have a post anywhere that describes your technique? (sorry, haven’t been around Finescale for ages…[:(]). I think it’s quite amazing what you have done there…[:D[
Oh, check out the following link if you like scrapped tanks. Don’t mind the text, it’s quite funny due to translation. Apparently the tanks make their own way to the slaughter…[:O]…[whstl]
I agree with Tony on this one Rob, you’ve been depriving us of our weekly dose of rust! Iron oxide definiciency is a most crippling condition you know…glad to see you back at the wrecking ball! The “scrap yard” sounds like a great project, looking forward to more. [Y]
Thanks guys for taking the time to pop in and also leave your comments.
Bill, I did miss the rust but I was stuck in a rut, but I’m back now. I want to try and finish off some models I started before the summer of last year. Remember that PZ IV F2 and trailer, I will try and get that thing done too.
Hey Adam thanks buddy, nice to hear from you. I’ll see about sending you some rust. [;)]
Steve, thanks man and I look forward to chatting with you in march. The M3 Tractor, I hope will be a very quick build.
Marc, we don’t mention things like that around me, gives me the willies. [+o(] Rust-o[:#] and that other thing sounds kinky so I may let that slide.
No up date today guys, I’ve been sick for the last week and it really hit me last night and this morning. I slept all day and decided to see what you boys are up to. You guys are great medicine, I always get a good laugh when I read some of your posts, thanks guys.
