The Rocketeer Figure

1/6 Rocketeer 3D figure by Resin Maniacs. Painted with acrylics and weathered with oil and acrylic washes. Base is several layers of drybrushed colors. For some reason the pants are more yellow in the pictures.

Really happy with how the helmet and rocket pack turned out!

Wow! Very lifelike. An absolute masterclass in figure painting.

Amazing job. Love the shadowing. I’m jealous.

You should be very happy with it all. Really well done. What technique did you use for the helmet. Is there actual metallic paint in there or is it NMM (non metallic metal) technique?

Excellent job! Shadows, hilites and blending are terrific and the metalwork is just great. Nicely done.

Started with a base coat of Gloss Black, then airbrushed thinned Tamiya Gold Leaf. Weathered it with some Abteilung Raw Umber oil paint.

A superbly eye catching piece- those metal painted areas really grab the attention! I also like the way you have done the leather jacket.

Outstanding figure painting veedubb67! That leather jacket looks so real. Years ago some manufacturer had a large scale vinyl figure kit of this character.

That rocket pack is Dyno-mite!

Yep - Screamin’ had a large Rocketeer vinyl figure (I had one).

That’s a terrific looking figure! It really captures the look and feel of the movie. Your paintwork is also superb. Good job!

Amazing work! I keep looking at the photos trying to figure out if you’ve painted in shadows/shading or if they are actual shadows, so I guess you nailed it! The leather jacket looks great, the color of that against the rocket straps just looks exactly as you’d expect. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks. Yes, there was pre and post shading on most of the figure.

That is a gorgeous job. Really captures the look of Cliff Secord’s alter-ego. And it’s a vastly underrated movie.

And I just watched the movie yesterday. Too bad Disney didn’t make a sequel.

Fantastic! As usual…

A terrific job. Your flesh tones on the neck are masterful.

Thanks. I’ve received a lot of compliments/questions regarding the fleshtones. I base coated with a pink fleshtone, then a neutral fleshtone airbrushed over the raised areas and finished with a lighter fleshtone drybrushed on the highest points.

Hope this helps!

Superb work! Do you use any sort of sealer or other coating over the acrylics, before you apply the oil washes? This piece is amazing.
