The Lone Palm Airport with The Hemisphere Dancer

My completed diorama of the Lone Palm Airport with the Hemisphere Dancer. Modeled after the Margaritaville Tiki bar at City Walk, Orlando and modified with artistic license to bring out the view of St. Somewhere in the Caribbean. Streaming Radio Margaritaville helped immensely in creating the mood for the diorama. Everything was scratch made, including:

  • Tiki Bar from scraps of basswood & poplar
  • Sculpted Pelican from modelers clay
  • Gizmos and Gadgets on the roof of the Tiki Bar from leftover photo etch
  • Palm Tree created from modelers clay, coconuts, and masking tape fronds
  • Tables and Chairs from a combination of basswood and balsa
  • Crates from poplar and balsa

The Model is the 1:48 Trumpeter Albatross

Here are the final photos with captions as needed. I wish I had a green screen to do photos with.

I elected to keep the cabin door open to view some of the interior. Scratch made the ladder.

Here you get a view of Jimmy’s “Longboard” setting on top of cases of Margaritaville Tequila. His Fly Rods attached to the upper wall.

Trumpeter doesn’t provide a detailed upper cockpit panel so here I added the power levers and prop controls.

The wires still need to be attached to a “button style” battery box and attached to the rear of the base. This provides illumination of the interior only.
