Here is the latest build from my desk. The sun finially came out today so heres what my Centurion really looks like.
This was a Tamiya Centurion MK 3 kit.As you can see I scratch built this kit on some places to make a MK 13 out of it.The barrel is the kit barrel which I used styrene tubing and strips. The thermal sheild was made from cloth and the mantel to repersent material was covered with tolet paper. The carry cage was scratch built with aluim.tubing and the IR light was scratch built along with the pick-axe and sleage hammer. The paint job was done to show fading along with weathering. All the hand heids were made with brass tubing to show real handles.
I like the Model , especially , the searchlight, the thermal protection on the barrel , and the stowage basket , on the turret rear. A MK 13? Your model is a very good representation of a MK 11. I served on Centurion Mk 11’s , except ours were called Centurion MK 11LR( LR = Long Range, because of the external 100 gallon , fuel tank bolted to the rear hull, just like Aussie Cent’s.) Nice model , keep up the great work. I think you would really enjoy the Tamiya 1/25 scale Cent , it has an interior , and builds into a decent model , straight out of the box. Happy modelling!

Hello ! Centurion MK 13’s had a flat mantlet, a " split “commanders hatch , and " pagoda " type louvres on the engine , and transmission decks , ( the rear of the hull), and a internal 100 gallon fuel tank. The Tamiya Centurion is based on a MK3 ( early Cent), MK5’s had the periscope for the loader , moved forward to the sloped part of the turret roof, the BESA MG exchanged for a Browning, the loaders hatch repositioned , different stowage bins on the fenders, and the hatch on the turret rear removed.Centurions were made in 3 basic types. MK3/5 , MK 7 , and MK 8. MK 3/5 Cent’s = Mk’s 5/1, 5/2, 5/3 , MK6 , 6/1, 6/2, MK 11( Yours), MK11(LR). MK7 = MK’s 7/1, 7/2, MK9, 9/1, 9/2,MK 12 . MK8 =8/1, 8/2, MK 10 ,10/1,10/2, and finally MK13. The differences between sub -marks is the change from a 20 pounder gun , to a 105 mm, the addition of a ranging gun , and IR. Some marks include , " All of the above”.
or a combination of these. A good reference is " Modern Combat Vehicles 2 Centurion" , by Simon Dunstan. Again happy modelling.

Very nice build. I’m building the modelcraft offering of the same vehicle, but I have a lot of work left to go to make it look any good, as the kit is a beast.
Where is a good place to find some decent reference pics of this beast?
Beautiful job Digger. It looks to me like you put alot of effort into this sweet looking centorian. My views of the pictures are a little blurry but it still looks like a great job. Interesting subject, I’ve got the modelcraft kit in my stash. Hope to build it someday. Thanks for sharing with us. Semper fi, mike
