The In My Stash GB : Redux

Thanks Arki I used a normal camera I just not good with camera photos. It will somewhat hurt its stealth capibilitys but after it gets rid of its ordanence doesnt effect it that much and beside those are long range missiles it’ll get the mig first lol

Arki, that was a nice ejection seat link too! I think I’ve seen it before, but missed out on bookmarking it, now I have [:)]

Raptordriver, very nice looking Raptor! Speedy build too!

Azgaron

Excellent and yes, very speedy work Raptordriver! [tup][tup]

Kenny, does he get an award for first one finshed?? Since we had a turtle award (whowon that by the way? [%-)]) doe that mean there is a Hare award? Sounds awful though… maybe the flash award. Okay its late and my brain shut down long time ago. Goodnight! [zzz]

Yay the weekend is here. SWMBO has given me permission to stay in my cave all weekend! Ya right, but i will have at least 1 day in there

Your weekend starts on a Friday? Must be nice! grumbling at work

Good work on the Raptor, Raptor. She looks stealthy that’ why the photos appear the way they do. Stealh Technology.

Now get crackin’ on the next one [:D]

Tony

Hey, nice Raptor. Had the same idea as Arki about all of that external ordinance lessening the stealth capabilities? Thought that’s why they had the closeable bays. Would love to see some more pics if you manage to figure out that camera!

Mini-progress report - got a bunch of the Zoom set onto the kit seat, shown next to the True Details resin version:

I’m realllllllly liking this Zoom set…see more of them in my future! [:D]

great work on the raptor, raptor. holy cow raptor finished way faster than wing_nut did last year

dupes nice progress

good thing some of us are slow hee hee

Ah, that explains it. Camera has a hard time focusing on stealth planes. [tup]

You know, Dupes, usually I prefer resin to the fussiness of PE, but I think the PE upgrades to the kit seat make a better presentation than the resin replacement in this case.

Looks like some areas on the resin seat are more detailed and possibly more accurate, but who’s gonna know the difference?

If that’s the Color Zoom set, how are you going to paint the seat with all that draped over it? Paint it anyway? Just curious. [:D]

Heh…it’s mostly just going to take a looooot of careful painting. I’ve been trying to dry fit the PE, figuring out what I need to paint before it gets glued on. The problem I’m going to have is matching the colors they used on the Zoom stuff for any places where the paint rubs off (it’s not attached terribly well).

I agree about the resin seat, I think it more closely matches (accuracy-wise) the pics I’ve seen, but the PE sure is pretty swank-tacular. [:D]

Not saying it doesn’t look like the ref pics, but you can only do so much when you’re trying to convert an existing piece of plastic instead of starting from scratch.

The color matching is exactly why I’ve avoided the Color Zoom sets for the moment.

Dupes, the seat looks spectacular, gotta love those zoom sets! [tup][tup]

Thanks Dupes. Do you hand paint those?

The zoom set, you mean? No, it’s a small single fret of PE that comes pre-painted (wait 'til you see the IP!) so you can just drop everything in place. The problem I’m having now is attempting to match the rest of the cockpit to the colors on the PE, just like Arki mentioned above. [|(]

Anyone have a good link that provides some standard colors for Russian (or EGYPTIAN) aircraft? Tried the IPMS Stockholm color charts, but they have very limited data for the USSR…and nothing for Egypt. Going to need to find something, or make some good guesses on both the interior AND exterior. [XX]

Oh, ejection seat is done…hope to have the rest of the pit squared away soon. Hopeful update pic tomorrow. [tup]

Dupes, that is some very nice work on the seat. Those zoom sets are really cool sets, but the color match issue doesn’t really bother me much, because 99 times out of 100 I wind up painting my small PE bits once their attached anyway. Was there anything about the resin seat you didn’t like, or is the jury still out as to which one you use?

Well, the interior will be tough, but for exterior try these two sites. I’ll keep digging to see if I can find anything further.

Arki - think that should actually do it! That one link had some Humbrol references (of the exact scheme I’m looking at), which I was able to semi-cross check on the IPMS Stockholm site. Should be able to get something in the ballpark, anyway. [:D]

Ruddratt - Thanks! I don’t think there’s anything about the resin seat I don’t like - it looks really good - other than the fact that I don’t think it will fit in the finished 'pit. At least, not with a control stick ALSO crammed in there. The PE stuff does look pretty awesome, gives it some “3D depth” as opposed to all of the detail just being painted on. Eventually I’ll have to use these seats for something, so long as I can find some more kits to cram them into. [;)]

Kind of hard to get PE work done while watching football (guess I’ll start in on drop tanks and ordinance!) but I did manage to finish the seat. Couple of minor touchups, but this is probably the one I’m going to go with.

Still going to do up the resin one, see how it looks.

Arki - picked up a bunch of paint yesterday, we’ll see how close I can get to being accurate with my hodge-podge of brands and color names. [(-D]

The seat looks appropriately “busy” Dupes. [tup] I’m sure you’ll find another use for the extra resin seat.

Since I doubt we have many Eygpt experts here (but I could be wrong), I’m thinking we wouldn’t have the slightest clue whether or not your colors are accurate. [:D]
