The In My Stash GB : Redux

Got a little progress on my Hood. Glued the upper and lower hulls together, they fit well. Much better than some of their other kits. Still waiting on paint and airbrush parts.

Ok, here’s a couple pics of Hood wip. Sorry about the lighting. If I do more work tomorrow I’ll take some better ones.

Not much done, but it’s a start. Yes, that’s an Anatomy of the Ship: Hood. Got it from my local ILL system.

AJB93, very cool progress! How long is it in that scale?

Mist, the area I believe you were circling in your picture was the top of the ejection seat. The A-10 uses the ACES II ejection seat, and if you follow this link you should be able to paint it quite nicely.

WOW Mists, good to you and all that seam filling you have in your future. That first photo is not a seam it’s a gash. Very nice work on the office.

Steve

AJB93, looking good so far!

Arki, nice ACES II link. I usually go here when I need info on ejection seats.

Mist, do not get in a big hurry, I built a Delta Dart last year and I ended up replacing ALL the panel lines by rescribing them. She too was a revell-o-matic with nice detail, grand canyon clones, good instructions, pretty good paint callouts, grand canyon clones, and raised panel lines that took 30 hours to rescribe. Take your time, you can build another kit in the time it takes to rescribe that bird. The raised panel lines do not detract from the finished look of the model. Take your time, sand around the panel lines.

Every one of those little fellas were rescribed. Take your time You don’t want to Have to do this.

Tony

Most of the seams aren’t going to be a problem sanding around the lines. I’ll have to rescribe the inflight refueling part on the nose. The seam goes right thru it. But i’d have to anyway because they didn’t line up [banghead]

Thanks!

She comes out to just under 15" in 1/700.

AJB, she looks smaller in the photos, How can you see the 1/700 details that you have to add. I have one 1/700 in the stash (can’t remember which one) and truthfully, it scares the Bejesus out of me. Good work so far, you are a brave man. [bow]

Ahhh, finally got to crack into the MiG-21 a bit last night. Picked up an Eduard Zoom set, and some True Details KM-1 resin seats to spruce it up…not realizing that a lot of the Eduard set is to spruce up the seat. Heh. So, I’m going to bang out both the PE-upgraded kit seat, and paint up one of the TD’s and see which one looks better. Guess I’ll have to buy some other kits to match my leftover aftermarket…[:-^]

Any of you have experience with these TD seats? I’m thinking it isn’t going to fit into the cockpit, looks like I may have to shave a bunch off of the bottom of the seat to get the control stick to fit…I think the problem I’m having is that there’s no clear demarcation towards the bottom part where the detail ends in the resin before you get to the block? Sort of like they’re leaving it up to you as to how much of the seat you want? [(-D]

Either way, I’ve started. [:D]

I had the same issue with the Verlinden resin seat I dropped in my Flanker. It was too tall to allow the canopy to close, so out came the Dremel and voila!

With a few exceptions (cough Ultracast cough), most resin replacements seem to need some massaging to fit, especially Aires.

Dupes, looking forward to seeing this come together.

Glad to see lots of you are getting a good start on this. [tup]

AJB93, that Hood is going to look impressive [8-] Are you building it OOTB?

I hope to start on mine this weekend, I was hoping to start last weekend but I messed up on the kit I was trying to finish up so I spent the weekend doing some touch ups. I did snip some parts from the sprue though so I have officially started. [:D]

Like that site! Here’s another I sometimes use:

aj looking really good

man you guys are just chit chatting away arent you all !

Yep, we’re just regular Chatty Cathys [:X]

Tony

That’s probably because the plans beneath her are 1/600 scale and the book is rather large

How do I do it? Seven years experience and alot of patience- lot’s of patience [xx(]

Some great work up there.

Just a quick administrative note, guys:
I’m going to be taking down the voting system very soon to reduce
the volume of data I have stored on my server. I have replaced it
with a single webpage that has a big image showing the vote results.
Same address, which we might as well make public now:

http://il2windhawk.com/FSM/IMS2/
This page will stay online for the duration of the build so you all can
check back to remember what your second and third-place kits were.

Here is a new path to the voting system, still online for a couple days:
http://il2windhawk.com/FSM/IMS2/index2.html
If you need anything from it (images, etc), download it immediately.
I will be removing & deleting probably by week’s end.

Nice work IL2…thanks for all your hard work on the voting forum[#toast]

Thanks for the great GB Kenny and IL2 of course I’ll stay here no matter what even after I’m done lol. About the kit I sprayed the whole plane Testors acryl light ghost gray and dark gull gray. The seam in the fusalage was a pain. The instructions didn’t say but I put the missiles on the weapons rack. I looked it up and it was right I think[;)]. I tried my best with this kit and in my opinion it is one of the better of the one’s I built. I’ll try to do alot of kits on the voting list once again everyone thanks.[:)]

Jeez, Speedy!! Quick finish! Raptordriver, looks pretty good although you need some more lighting. And is this from a camera phone because I can’t figure out why your pictures always seem pixelated?

Anyway, the paint work looks good [tup]. I’ll be honest and admit I don’t know squat about the Raptor. Wouldn’t hanging ordnance off it wreak the stealth capabilities?

Nice build!
