"The Fuhrer and Junger" & "Eastern Front, Winter 1941"

Yup, his standard, elitist attitude. Acknowledge all the “atta boys” and “great work” comments. Blow off or give a snappy negative response to anyone who doesn’t agree with him. Standard data.

Very very cool Phaisal–who’s making the “Fuhrer” molds now? This one and the previous one? It’s hard to find kits of Hitler.

Mmmmmmmmm standard data maybe from MM but also standard data here as well.

Frankly guys and gals if you dont like the postings from MM or the subject matter irks then don’t look at it. Pretty simple and it does not not take an exceptional mind to figure it out. Maybe in truth, something captivates and you cannot help yourselves. Kinda reminds me of someone complaining about TV content and does not know how to change channels or switch it off even with the remote sitting besided them.

Folk, some people buy, make n paint models whilst others collect. Each to their own. Oh! and by the way, MM does say who makes the models that he has presented - his postings tell me so - so if a person does not realise that then they are not reading the information. Afterall, all modelers read instructions don’t they?

MM I appreciate your postings and the work of the journeymen that you present for our entertainment. As I also appreciate the work of all who post on this and other sites. Power to those that contribute regardless of their skill levels and long may it continue.[:O]

Bish - While everyone has the freedom to post, I have the freedom to respond selectively. I just don’t argue with rogue comments from a few guys here. I know they’re just envious of my builders. They just can’t build this good and this fast. Karl - Thank you so much for your kind words. “The Fuhrer & Junger”, painted by “pj” is the previous one, “The Fuhrer & the General”, painted by AI came later. I didn’t mention about their maker because I really don’t know. Got them from a Chinese site, “The Fuhrer & Junger” costed $4.99 while “The Fuhrer & the General” costed $6.99, shipping is free. Of course I also got dozens more of figures and vignettes (mostly German WWII), some of which have been built and shown, some are in the making and more are still in stock And now I know another Chinese site! major nuisance - Thank you so much for dropping by and giving nice comments. You represent the majority here who have enjoyed my posts and the works of my builders over the years. Your support give us the power to go ahead. We’ll continue to serve you in the years to come.

I hate to break this to you, but there are much better modellers on here than the ones you employ, and no one attacks them in they way they do you. Its your whole attitude thats the problem. And yes, you do have the freedom to respond selectively. But its odd that while you reply to all the positive comments, you hardly ever seem to reply to the negative ones. These commenst are generally posted to help the builder. But if the builder is happy with his build that fine, a polite thank you for pointing it out would be sufficent.

But what do we get. Someone mentions the sign that should be in Russion, and i bring up the out of place Panzerfaust, and you don’t even bother to reply. And this of course carries over from another thread were people were attacked for pointing inaccuricies out. This has lead to me being very careful about commenting on other peoples builds for fear of being condemend for trying to help someone.

And what response do we get from you.

Those who worry too much about history will soon become history themselves.

2 comments from me, one about the diorama, one about MM’s contributions.

Firstly, when i first looked at the Hitler figure, the red band around the hat (signifying a General)seemed odd to me. I may be wrong but i don’t recall seeing a photo of him with a red band. If my wine-affected memory serves didn’t he usually sport a hat with a black band?

Secondly, whilst i’ve never had a problem with MM posting works that he’s commissioned rather than built and i think some of the criticism he’s attracted has been unwarranted, i think its fairly obvious that MM is a divisive influence on this forum. I think its sad to see members with longstanding and valuable input coming to sometimes rancorous disagreement over the issue. Even more disturbing is that MM doesn’t seem to be willing to make any concessions to smooth things over. Lets face it, it wouldn’t take much for him to acknowledge negative comments even if he thinks he shouldn’t have to. At the end of the day, the forum is more important the individual and we should all make concessions to make it work effectively. I’m coming around to the point of view that MM isn’t a team player and others are coming into conflict as a result.

End of sermon.

Honestly?

I think it’s funny how knotted-up some people get about Phaisal’s postings here.

For me, after being initially put off by them and by something that I just didn’t understand at first, I’ve come to view them as a chance to see certain kits built up by very good, competent builders and painters. They’re not always 100% accurate, but neither are mine! [:$]

What some see as arrogance, I see as a man who has found his “zen”–he likes to buy and show off his model collection; it’s part of him, it’s part of his culture, and frankly, I think his postings and replies show that he is laughing at the angst that it inexplicably causes in some of his detractors. Party on, Model Maniac! [blns][:P]

Bottom line: he’s “winning” in the matter. If you don’t like him or his postings, ignore them.

[dto:]…everyone, IMO, wins by the very fact that many models that would not otherwise be seen built-up are posted…and although IMO many have issues w/ them at least someone is building and taking the trouble and time to post them for us to see…I always look at them, rarely comment…don’t like, don’t look…

Post away MM,I enjoy looking.

BTW,I saw the vid of ‘the handshake’ twice last week.Watch enough Military channel and your bound to come across it.

I generally avoid commenting on ‘hot’ topics like this. Still my two cents- they’re MM’s models. If he wants to pay someone else to build them and is happy with the results then good for him. It’s his money - let him spend it however he wants. [2cnts]

Ditto: please keep posting your stuff MM.

Bish - Though I didn’t respond to some comments, I did read them and make improvement where possible. For example, I’ve already told “pj” about the sign’s language which should not be in English. He said he didn’t know much about history and the countries inwhich the Germans fought. So I told him it would be safe to have Russian or other European languages but not English.

That sentence I meant to be a joke. You probably didn’t get my joke.

Fast Heinz - Firstly about the hat’s band color, I have no idea what color it should be, and it doesn’t matter. How many people know exactly?, probably less than a few in 100 samples. So why bother with such minority?

Secondly, I am a team player but I have my own team and tactics.

Karl - Thank you so much for your kind and continuous support. I just can’t agree more with all you wrote. They’re so true.

Manstein’s revenge - Thanks so much too for your kind comments. You’re right, I’ve almost always been the first one to post many newly-released kits in finished mode. As my sources of kits spanned the globe in recent years. Many more are coming…

TD4438 - Many thanks for your kind words. Sure, more are coming soon.

BTW, is there a Military Channel? I usually watch only 3-4 channels - History, National Geographic, Discovery and sometimes Animal Planet.

Gamera - Thanks much for your kind understanding. I’ll keep posting for sure. I’ve been webmastering for 14 years and posting here is a way to publicize my website.

fair enough, will take your word for it.

MM, post away! Generally if I have nothing at all good to say I’ll shut up. I enjoy seeing many of your different and unusual models even if some would benefit from further research or better technique by your builders. I take them as a form of kit review as they generally seem to be mostly OOB.

Pat.

Guys

My point, perhaps not well made (although when i read back through my post i’m not sure how i could have made it clearer), is that MM’s posts cause easily avoidable division on the forum. I’m not criticising the quality of the builds, nor the fact that MM doesn’t build them himself, nor am i suggesting that he should refrain from posting. Far from it, i enjoy looking.

All i am saying, and its not meant to be inflammatory and certainly not derogatory, is that it would take very little effort from MM to acknowledge negative as well as positive comments which would quickly put all the divisive debate to the sword.

I suppose the fact that i’m now having to defend myself over what i thought was a fairly benign post kinda supports my point.

Whatever the case i have absolutely no desire to get into a protracted exchange over it. I don’t necessarily agree with everything that’s been written but i respect everyone’s point of view even if i don’t share them.

And MM - you keep posting and i’ll keep looking though perhaps not reading.

Cheers

Actually, Hitler wore a field cap that had a reddish-brown (burnt-orange) band around the area you are speaking of…in contemperary color cine’ and stills it is very evident…probably a bit more brown than is what depicted, but certainly in that color range…

What’s all this neo-nazi stuff. It,s a bleeding model! No wonder it costs me a fortune in Swastikas.

I like it, thanks for posting. I do agree with the sign though. Should be in German.

To be honest i had a good laugh reading through this topic… But that’s me.

To cry “wolf” in this manner on a modeling forum of all places is (to my own humble little person) ridiculous and humouristic.

I have yet to meet the first modeler outhere that is building models with a political agenda…

Richard

Bish - thanks!

Pat - thanks for your kind encouragement. More unusual models are coming.

Fast Heinz - thanks for your kind comments. No problem about acknowledging negative comments, I think I did that from time to time. I’ll post some more figures/vignettes/dio’s today.

Mainstein’s Revenge - thanks for your information about the band’s color. So the one depicted here is close to the actual one?

DogTailRed2 - thanks for your kind words. I’ve told the artist that the sign should be in German or Russian.

Richard - thanks for dropping by and giving some comments.
