Anyone acquire this book yet?
My wife lost me in Barnes and Noble the other night cause I was hiding in the kids section curled up in a bean bag with this book.
How much was it?? and was it good??? Should I go to Barnes and Noble right now to pick it up??
That’s a good tactic… I can never spend enough time (or money i don’t have) at Barnes and Noble when ever i go there. Those are great books (and it would be perfect for blackwolf’s little Quizzes)! But what i really like reading are those detailed books on a single plane… I have several on the B-17 already and i would like a few more. [;)]
I’ll have to look for that one… how is it?
I have the 1997 version of this book and it is very complete (but Blackwolf has showed me where there are a few not listed) I bought my copy for $29.95 and they usually sell each years for around the same price…
A couple of others I picked up at Barnes are ‘The Encyclopedia fo World Military Aircraft’ which has aircraft currently in service and ‘The Encyclopedia of 20th Century Air Warfare’ which had info on aircraft involved in combat from WWI through Desert Storm. This last one shows a lot of aircraft in different markings that have participated in combat.
Little do they know that I have an agreement with Mr.Eden and we’ve concocted this ID Quiz scheme to up the sales of the book…
MUA HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Not really…
Fade to Black…
The price was under $30. I read a review of it the other day. Seems this 2002 version is a little more complete than the 1997 version. The major complaint was that more information was provided for manufacturers earlier on in the alphabet (A-L) like Aeronca, Beech, Bell, Boeing, Consolidated, Curtiss, Douglas, Fairchild, Grumman, and Lockheed. And that’s just US manufacturers.
Well, my response to that is that it just so happens that most of the major manufacturers that put out a ton of planes just happen to go by names that alphabetically come earlier on in the alphabet than others. Also, it a lot easier to come by information for manufacturers like Beech and Boeing than others.
Regardless, I can’t wait for the next field trip to B&N! I gotta find another hidding place though.[;)]
