Here’s an interesting question .
Was the grey used on this country’s ships on the grey/green side . Or has me old eyes let me down at last ? It seems to me in photos of the ships on box covers , they tend to the grey/green side.
I am not well versed in the colors of the Soviet navy .
Which Fleet?
The colors applied to the ships of the Soviet Navy tended to vary with which fleet the ship was assigned; Black Sea vs North Sea vs Pacific @ Vladivostok. Not only conceptural differences in camouflage WRT the environment but also the ‘importance’ of how the fleet appeared and resources available to maintain the ships
Anywhere from a dark gray to a misty blue gray. Streaks of rust are always fashionable.
Pennant numbers are not a reliable identifier. The Soviet Navy also swapped numbers around in an attempt to confuse observers as to how many ships they had. A ship may leave port and return a few days later with a newly painted pennant number.
And, depending upon the sorce, at least one with different pennant numbers p&s.
I only ever saw one up close; big son of a gun.

The mutiny on the Sterezhevoy happened in the Black Sea fleet .
In 1989, three Soviet ships visited San Diego - a Sovremenny and a Udaloy and a “civilian” tanker. The were on opposite sides of the pier and it was completely obvious that the two destroyers were different shades of grey. I looked at them with a modeler’s eye, since the Skywave Sovremenny kit had just recently been released and I wanted to do it right.
One was a slate grey (I pictured the old Pactra Hot Rod Primer) and the other was a bit lighter, with a brownish tint. Both ships had been freshly painted, so there was no weathering involved. Also, the decks were different colors. The Sovremenny class had a darker color, a shade of brown. And the Udaloy had an orange-ish shade.
I have a stack of photos somewhere, but can’t put my finger on them now.
My message here is that these two ships, both from the Pacific Fleet, were painted differently in all respects, so when I build more, I am not going to hurt myself worrying about an exact shade.

I have decided to go with Slate Grey with a drop of Beret Green added . . The ones I saw in the black Sea years ago were a weird Grey/Green and it made them look " Mean as Hades " Even though they weren’t as big as many U.S.Ships I served on .
Scary when they come along-side and pace you though . Especially when you are on the bridge of a 54,000 ton oil - tanker ! Coming to get a load from GazProm !
