I’ve finished a second SS Panzer IV in France 1944 diorama. I didn’t really plan to complete two of them this year, it just kind of happened. Anyway, it’s 1/35, the Panzer IV is from Tamiya, and the figures are from Tamiya, Masterbox, MiniArt, Panzerart, Alpine Miniatures, Border Model… and maybe something else. And this tank and the men are supposed to be from the 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich” - well, not the farmer.
@S.Hollowell I love it. Your attention to detail is off the charts. Spectacular paint work on everything, but the figures really stand out to me. And I love the pig/piglet, the rooster, and the duck (or is that a goose?).
And photographing this diorama outside to take advantage of the sun casting actual shadows makes your photos pop with realism.
Thanks @Aggieman! It’s a goose. And the reason I took the pictures outside was because it’s big enough that it won’t fit in my light box. A “mistake” that worked.
Awesome project! It really tells a story with all of the details, like the camo scheme on the uniforms and the farm animals, you’ve included. The civilian car also adds a "splash"of color in an otherwise military scheme.
Well done with the diorama! Including the animals was a nice touch!
Are the stone walled building and enclosure model kits or were these scratch built?
Thank you guys. Edwin, I scratch built the buildings and pig pen with foam.
Very, very nice diorama. There is a lot of character and a lot of details to catch one’s eye. You did an excellent job.
@S.Hollowell
Very well done. Impressive.
I like all the detail in this diorama, but I do have one question. Did the Pz. IV back into the area between the pig pen and the house or did it come thru there where the broken ladder is lying on the ground? I’m not seeing any tread marks on the ground.
Manuel - The idea was that it backed up to where it is in the diorama. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but I did make some very faint traces of its path. However, next time, I should definitely make them more prominent.
OK, Thanks for clearing that up. I remember seeing videos of tanks backing up into ‘ambush’ nests. In ‘Band of Brothers’ during the ‘Operation Market Garden’ episodes, the allied advance encounters a Tiger I in an ambush defilade. Still a great diorama.
