I have completed the installation of the rat lines, as anyone who has ever done this, it does takes a lot of time. They do not look to bad. My next step is to add the final rigging in preparation to adding the sails. The kit came with cloth sails, I am planning to make them more authentic by putting them in a solution of old coffee and water for a couple of days, if there is a better idea on how to do this, please feel free to let me know.
It is finally done! I have completed the construction!
This model have been a learning experience for me, I have improved my knowledge on how to plank the hull, also some new tricks to facilitate the work. I have attached some photos of the completed ship.
I do would like to make a comment on the instructions, this is a Occre model, and, as I discussed before, they have over 120 Youtube videos to facilitate the building.
These videos are very good in showing how to build some of the most complicate items, also how to run the ropes during rigging. The way this is done is by picking up an example then show how the item is to be worked, but, it may not show everything and the videos are not in subsequent order. which means that, if you follow the videos, you will assembly the ship in a order that is not the most practical.
Originally I gave the instructions a B plus or A minus, but, after completing the ship I downgrade the instructions to a C plus or B minus. I would recommend for anyone building this model to become familiar with how the instructions are setup to facilitate the building.
In any case, these instruction are a lot better than Artesania Latina.
Well, no more complains, here are the photos:
Now it is time to start researching for my next target!
Listen, there is something I cannot emphasize enough, when I talk to folks. Modelers who’ve done it for a long time and various subjects have passed their bench. We ARE our own worst critics. We cannot seem to realise that other folks viewing our work May NOT be as conversant in the details as we are!
Personally, Looking at the Beagle I would sail with you Cap’n!
Thank you sir! Yes, you are correct in that we are more critical of our work than the casual viewer, I have to keep reminding myself of that so I can let go of some detail that I can not see to get it perfect.
