anyone know how this kit is? any reviews on it anywhere?
The only reviews I can remember came out when it was originaly released back in the 80s. The kit is arguably still the best representation of the type in 1/72 scale despite it’s age. The biggest drawback to most of todays modelers is the fact it has raised details. I’ve built two (an F and a G) and have three more in the stash. If you have a chance to get one at a reasonable price, go for it.
Hasegawa’s is a very good kit. It is for an early model “F” and does not have the astrodome on the nose that was often added in the field or factory installed on later models. For later models of the “F” Academy produces a nice version, also–but I’m still partial to Hasegawa’s. There are little glitches to be aware of, but nothing major. Engine nacelles require a little fiddling and filling to get them smooth. The rear bulkhead in the cockpit does interfere with the top turrent, so you should file/sand the bulkhead thinner, so it doesn’t interfere. Beyond that the building is pretty straight forward. Good luck.
I haven’t seen any reviews anywhere but I just finished building the “F” other than what has already been mentioned I would add that the clear parts also require some fiddling to get them to sit right. Other than the few usual things you expect from an older kit it is a good build.
