It seems some bit of paint may be jammed in there…I have tried alcohol, laquer thinner, lighter fluid and now gasoline. All have failed.[:(!]
My wife suggested the small compressed air cans. I will try that but I was thinking of something a bit more radical.
The siphon cup is way too small any way, junk it. However I have quite a few Testor bottles with the lid attachments for an old Testors brush (which was dirt cheap compared to the T&C and runs like a Swiss watch with just the most basic of maintenance!)
If I were to “modify” one of those old Testors deal with some brass tubing an intelligent application of epoxy and some shrink tubing I am inclined to believe it would work. Therefore, making me a genius to be praised for years to come…yeah right![V]
Seriously, the T&C cup is near impossible to buy outside of a completely new brush and no luck on ebay. Does anyone else out there have any suggestions, does my idea have merit or should I seek professional help for delusions of granduer?
Go to the drug store. In the dental section, where the toothbrushes are, get some tiny “Interdental Brushes”. They are small brushes for brushing between your teeth. Dunk one in laquer thinner and use it to brush out the tube.
I use them a lot for cleaning my airbrushes. I personally prefer to just get the “Refills” and then Zap one into the end of a toothpick. They work great for getting all the way through the needle bearing. They last forever and I’ve only used a couple in the past year. Seems like I paid about $2 for a pack of 8.
Thanks guys! I am going to a jeweler to try that. The brushes may not work. The tube is exteremely small, however, there is a drug store right next to the jeweler.
For a goof I am going to try making my own, why no, it something to do while waiing for glue to dry.
Those that I use are extremely versatile. The brush itself is at most 1/8" in diameter and is mounted on wire. The wire is somewhat flexible and follows bent tubes quite well. I have used them on all my airbrushes, including the tubes on paint cups and siphon bottle caps, and they do a very good job.
As I mentioned above, I also keep one stuck in the end of a toothpick. It will go right through the threads on the front of an Omni and scrub out the needle bearing very well.
