f-111? that’s not a phantom is it? f-4 is a phantom… isn’t it? f-111 should be an aardvark or something…

VF-111 is the squadron, unless that’s a typo.

VF-111 is the squadron markings i’ve done the f-4b phantom in. it’s actually “old nick 201” which shot down a mig 17 in early 1972. From the Hasegawa “Mig eaters kit” if you want to know. Looks good though as i always like a] The “Sundowners” markings and b] The golden age of hi-viz markings in the 60’s and 70’s

The kit is good Decals are nice and colourfull The only problem i have is that the decals are proberly a tad too thick hence it’s hard for them to set 100%

I don’t recall the problems you were talking about, but I would sure like to see some pics [:D]

VF-111 has always been my favorite Navy Squadron. Their aircraft, from the F-8 up to the F-14 were the best looking and most colorfull aircraft to ever set sail on a carrier. I had a chance to see some of their aircraft at Kadina AB Okinawa in the late 70’s. I also remember some that came into our base in Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam War.

If I’m not mistaken, they have a web site with some colorful profiles on it.

Hay Sharkskin do you know the adress to that web page by any chance?

Berny13. Thats so cool that you have actually seen them. I promise pics as soon as I can:)

VF-111 Sundowners is one of my favorites too. As you young boys already know, any squadron that flew from USS Coral Sea CV-43 is at the top of my favorite list.
