testors sbd dauntless

hi guys!
i have found a 1/72 sbd dauntless from testors. i have found out that it has no interier detail at all! all that was in there is these little strips of plastic the seats. no bucket seats,no insterment pannel,no floor, and no stick. it is nothing inside but plastic strips.i was surprised that there were aft machine guns.the out side looks good but i want to give the interier a new look besides the strips.so is there an interier for an 1/72 sbd dauntless? thx-brad[:D]

There should be… I think with all of the other problems that kit has it wouldn’t be worth adding any aftermarket or scratchbuilt interior detail. That’s just me though. If you don’t mind a larger scale Accurate Miniatures makes several variants of the SBD and I’ve heard their detail is awesome.

I think there is one designed forthe much nicer 1/72 Hasegawa. Try a search on Squadron or Great models web sites.

Yeah, I built it cause it was cheap, and a good model to start with. I just left the pilots and “interior” out, as my flashy pre-war color scheme did enough for looks[:)]. I’m also building the 1/72 Testors Corsair, and although overall it’s nice (a/c detail), it also has no interior, and uses the exact same wheels as the SBD.

True Details from Squadron.com makes a nice, cheap, interior set that you can make work in your 1/72 Slow But Deadly. FWIW that Testors mold is probably older than you, LOL.

Brad,

There are some weird things about that kit, but with a little work it builds into a nice model.

Chuck the crew ! Either they are way out of scale - or - they came from the now out of production “Big Headed Sumo Westler WWII aircrew set”.

Carving out the gear bays is tough - but it is possible and it was worth it in my opinion.

I filled in the star patterns that were recessed into the fuselage - but not the round circles that are offset inside the stars. Those circles are little hinged access panels for something - I saw them opened on an SBD at an airshow last year. I might even have a pic if I can find it.

Have fun !

Chris
