I’m building a Hasegawa P-51D with an NMF finish. Will the Glosscote seal the Xtreme Metal paint without damaging the finish? I usually seal the metallic finish with Tamiya X-22. Any thoughts?
Would recommend you do a test sample first before you paint it on the finished model. Mixing paint types, even when fully dried and cured, is always a gamble so when in doubt test first.
Looks like AK x-Treme are an enamel based, what do you thin X-22 with, that would factor in.
Thanks Ranger_Chris, I’m doing the spoon test like I should have done earlier.
Tojo, I went ahead with what I know, X-22 thinned 2/1, leveling thinner to X-22.
Y’all, thanks for your input. Sometimes the obvious escapes me. lol.

I find most of the metal finishes I use do not require sealing. They are smooth enough to accept decals directly, and quite stable with time. Alclad is my go-to, but I have others that work that way also.
