I’m a new poster but a long time lurker - I’m not a professional but I take my projects seriously and I’ve learned a lot and I have enjoyed the pictures as well as the great posts.
I’m currently working on Testors 1/72 B-2 Spirit and it has taken me a ton of work in gap filling and sanding. So far I like the results and I’ve learned a lot but trying to fit everything together has been quite a bit of work.
Anybody have any tips or information or pictures of this model?
Uuck. I stopped building my B-2 and nearly threw it away. If you haven’t looked already, www.swannysmodels.com has a great article on gap filling. One thing I noticed is it fits much better if you cut off the locating pins for the wing sections. Hopefully someone with better advice will come along soon.
Welcome to the Forum [#welcome]. That’s an old & much maligned kit. I haven’t built it but from most reviews it’s pretty rough. I have seen pics of a couple of builds that looked good, so with skill & patience it can make a very nice model.
darn I was gonna by that kit.
are there any other B-2 1/72 out there?
my advice ti yiu is to be patient!
my nam swift boat by revell/monogram wasn’t too great either
I have build it and found it challenging. The fuslage was severely warped, as were the wings. At the time, I didn’t know that you can use hot water to soften the plastic and bend it back to shape. So my b-2 is warped. Maybe you could use a rig/jig (what’s the word?) to allign the wings.
I did something a bit different, I assembled the top and bottom halves separately, then glued them to each other. That seemed to solve most of the warp and gap problems. You will have to remove the locating pins to do this. The decals were on the poor side too. The wing walks were the wrong sizes so overlaps occured. Otherwise the detail and outline of the kit is fairly accurate.
