I’m trying to air brush but the paint is either to thin or to thick. Its getting frustrating and I’m borrowing the compressor I’ve done oils in the past no problem and acdrlics last year without issue. I’m doing somthing wrong need help.
I don’t use Testors acrylic but the paint chart I have from FSM published a few years ago says the this paint is pre-thinned but you should add a few drops of any unversional thinner.

Unlike most people, I actually like MM acryl paints. But I stopped using them because of their cheap cardboard insert under the lid.
I also stopped measuring thinning ratios and go by feel alone. Here is what you can do to find the sweet spot. If you find that your paint is too thick, you can add thinner one or two drops at a time and retest. Repeat until you get a satisfactory result. If your paint is too thin, add more paint and retest. By the way, I always used Testors “universal” acrylic thinner to thin their paints.
This is a bit tedious at first, but after a few times you will learn the right consistency.
One comment I have about the thinning chart in FSM that Marcus mentioned. The author of that chart used a single action airbrush with a .5mm needle (if I recall). If you are using a different airbrush, especially one with a smaller needle, then you will have to add more thinner than the chart calls for.
Thus, while the chart’s author may be able to get away without thinning MM acryl paints, your mileage may vary, mine certainly does.
