Testing my skills (and Patience)! - Update!

Here are a few progress pics of my latest undertaking - the Fonderie Miniature 1:48 PV-1 Ventura. This is definitely NOT a kit for beginners, and I’m wondering if it is over my head as well! I knew that it would not be a shake and bake Tamigawa type kit but WOW! is all I can say. I plan to post progress as a kind of build diary…

Here is the interior (mostly resin) and wheel wells after painting:

I decided to try adding some interior detail structure…haven’t painted it as yet

I am not trying to get an exact interior here, just something to liven up what will be visible through the open hatch and the windows.

Your comments and constructive criticiam and suggestions are, as always wlecome and appreciated, and thanks for looking!

Great work, so far, Brian. And kudos to you for attempting something so challenging. The Ventura is a neat airplane and I’ll definately be following your build.

Somewhere buried deep in my stash I have a FM kit that I started on. Someday I get it out and work on it again, maybe…

All I can say is stay at it…wished I had better news.

Nice , i wait for finish. [:)]

mucker, model grandpa and rafhart,

Thanks for the kind words - I am really pushing the envelope with this one (given my experience/skill level), and it is purely a learning experience. I think a large supply of putty is going to be in order, given the trial fit results on the fuselage! Hope to get the interior painted tonight, then I can start the interior detailing (O2 bottles, etc). More pics to follow!

I applaud you for breaking out of the box! Looking good so far, keep the pics coming!

Looking good!

Nice start, Brian !

Congratulations to you for making the move to expand your skills. It’s easy to pop out the “shake & bake” kits, but you don’t learn much along the way. Trying something new will always provide you with experience that will come in handy on future builds. Take your time, and pay close attention. You will be rewarded with a project that is the results of your efforts, and not the manufacturer’s.

daywalker, Tango1 and Pix,

Thanks so much for your encouragement and support! I’ll be posting more progress shortly, and I’ll look forward to critiques and suggestions, which are especially helpful from the experienced members here on the forum. Pix, your comments are especially meaningful to me, as you are my “role model” in modeling! You guys will make a serious modeler out of me yet! [:O]

Another update on this project - got most of the detailing finished inside, will be closing it up soon, then the REAL fun starts! This beast is going to require a LOT of putty!

Your comments and constructive criticism are, as always, welcomed! Thanks for looking!
