Tentatively titled "Refugees"

This one is almost done. Tentatively titled “Refugees”
I still have some work on the figures (painting wise) and their placement on the base.
Originally, the base was going to be a generic backdrop for photographing finished vehicles but I found these Preisler figures that I’ve had lying around for years and decided to give them a shot.
I may have to perform some surgery and replace the heads on a couple of the women as they really don’t look much like suffering refugees… still contemplating that.
The base was another experiment in carving bricks…

WOW creading, that looks fantastic to me. Did you make the brick base yourself? If yes, what method do you use? What scale are those figures? This scene just “speaks” to me about the effects of war.

Thanks for the comment.
(what scale are those figures?) 1:35
(did you make the brick base yourself?) Yes
(what method do you use?) The base and wall section are carved out of foam insulation board, doors are stir sticks, roof is corrugated paper.

Cheers,
C.

Very nicely done. Good idea for photographing finished vehicles and figures.

This is very well done. It captures the essence of the refugee struggle to remain alive and FREE. BTW your scratch building of the building is outstanding.

Great work! You must have spent hours carving those bricks. Skill and patience in abundance!

Would little slits in hems of coats make them look old?

I think it’s more that a couple of the women look like they have just been to a hair salon…a little too nicely done hair to be the displaced refugee look I was thinking of.
I think in the long run it will look okay. Thanks for the suggestion.

It looks done to me! A thoughtful scene. The brickwork is terrific…patience, vision and technique come together.
